Remind me already, how'd we get Hunter Wood? We must have traded someone but I forget who!

We got him and infielder Arroyo for Cardenas and international signing money.
Me personally, I would go ahead and put Wood in the Tribe bullpen and cut Cole. But guess they want to get a look at him first.

OMG! Forgot about Cardenas already!
Meanwhile Johnson doesn't want to be overlooked in the now crowded outfield: double and homer in his first 2 AB tonight.

To finish up Wednesday action. ...
Columbus lost 11-8. ... Karinchak allowed 2 hits, 2 walks, and 3 earned runs and only got 1 out. ... Johnson 3-5, 2B, HR, BB, RBI, R. He even added an OF assist on D. ... Tom 1-5, 2B, BB, R, 2 RBI. ... Bradley 1-4, 2 BB.
Scrappers lost 2-0. They only managed 3 damn hits, and the catcher Diaz had 2 of those. Rocchio 0-3, BB.
AZL Red won 3-2. ... Francisco Perez, in his 2nd rehab start, did great. 3 perfect innings, 4 K. ... they might as well end Velasquez’s rehab and send him to AAA, cause he’s killing the rookie league. 2-4, another homer, 2 R, RBI. ... Gabriel Rodriguez, or GabRod from now on, finds that Arizona agrees with him, going 3-4 with an RBI in his first game. He is the second youngest player in the AZL, by the way.
AZL Blue lost 7-6. ... Brennan 0-4. ... Tena 2-4, RBI. ... Noel 1-3, R, RBI.
Our two DSL teams were playing each other, but game got suspended in 4th due to rain.

Civ, if I remember correctly Brennan was a college kid they stuck in AZL to begin. He has done well. So as you said, Valera has been missing so must be banged up. Not on IL though, that I have seen. So maybe Brennan fills a need, but I think he will probably stick around in MV too.

Thompson and Barnes werent' going to get anymore playing time with Bauers and Allen on the Clippers.
Nelson debuted ineffectively for Columbus a homer and a walk and retired one; Stephens was far worse 6 runs in 4 innings. Hunter Wood also in his debut a run in 1 1/3, Cam Hill looked good again 2 shutout innings with 3K. Kaminsky has been much better of late, earned runs in only one of his past 10 appearances 14 K in those 11 innings, but the 6 walks are still a little high

Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 45 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 60 | Control: 50 | Overall: 55
Allen pitched for IMG Academy's (Fla.) high school squad as a senior before going to the Red Sox in the eighth round of the 2015 Draft and signing for $725,000. He already has been traded twice, getting dealt to the Padres in a package for Craig Kimbrel in November 2015 and going to the Indians in the three-team swap that sent Trevor Bauer to the Reds this July. The Double-A Texas League Pitcher of the Year in 2018, he made his big league debut this June but has struggled this year in Triple-A and the Majors.
After pitching with a below-average fastball at the outset of his career, Allen now operates more in the 92-94 mph range with late life. He's aggressive with his fastball placement and confidently attacks right-handed hitters on the inner half of the plate. A changeup that receives plus grades and plays nicely off his heater is his best secondary offering, and he also has feel for throwing his curveball and slider for strikes, with the latter grading as the better pitch.
Allen battled elbow issues during his first full pro season but has been healthy since. His four-pitch mix and pitchability give him a higher floor than ceiling, and he has the durability needed to be a workhorse starter in the big leagues.
