Columbus won 10-6. ... Their web site is giving me all sorts of trouble so I can’t get to box score right now, but I know from following the game earlier that Bradley hit 2 home runs, and Karinchak struck out 3 batters, all swinging. Bradley hit a fastball a long way out to straight centerfield. Then next time up he turned on a breaking ball and hit it a long way out to right field.

Akron, Lynchburg and Scrappers were off Monday.

Lake County got killed, 10-0. ... Fermin 1-4. ... Engelmann 0-3.

AZL Red won 2-1. ... Top draft pick Espino was wild but real good again. 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K. ... New acquisition Velasquez big night on rehab stint, 3-4, 2 doubles, walk, and a run. ... Paz 2-4, double.

AZL Blue lost 8-7 in 10 innings. ... Escobedo 0-3, 2 BB, R. ... Tena 2-5, 2 R. ... Noel 0-2, BB, R, RBI. ... Brennan 1-3, 2 BB, R, RBI.

DSL Indians lost 5-4. ... Antunez 3-4, 2 2B, 3B, R, RBI. ... AMart 1-4, RBI. ... Burgos 1-4, 2B, R.

DSL Coop team got smoked again of course, 7-2. ... Garcia 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K. ... Sanquintin 2-3 RBI SB. ... Meza 1-2 2R 2B BB SB

Antunez 3-4, 2 2B, 3B, R, R

Wuilfredo Antunez has only had 27 at bats so a bit early to judge but his 9 hits include 4 doubles and 2 triples; 3 walks and 4 strikeouts; 2 for 2 in steals. 17 year old. Not a big kid at all, but "room to grown into his body" he's 6-0 150.

Freaking Karinchak is amazing. They simply have to call him up. Don't bother trading for another reliever.

He does walk too many but except for that one game a few days ago not one hits off him.
his total including Akron Arizona and Columbus: 18 IP 6 H 3 runs, all in one game, 9 walks 45 K; that means 9 of the 54 outs he's recorded were not by strikeout

here are BA's lines

CLE AAA Bradley, Bobby 1B 5 2 2 2 0.284 2 HR (27)
CLE AAA Chang, Yu 3B 4 1 1 0.274 BB (19)
CLE AAA Haase, Eric C 4 1 0 0 0.229
CLE AAA Johnson, Daniel RF 3 0 1 0 0.309 2 BB (23) all 4 of these guys in Columbus should be in Cleveland in September
CLE LoA Holmes, Quentin CF 3 0 0 0 0.187 BB (27)
CLE R Cairo, Christian 3B 5 1 1 0 0.209
CLE R Martinez, Angel SS 4 0 1 1 0.271
CLE R Velazquez, Andrew SS 4 1 3 0 0.520 2 2B (6), BB (3) [that's enough rehab, try him up in AA or AAA already]

CLE AAA Karinchak, James 1 0 0 0 1 3 5.40

Indians Prospective @indiansPro

#Indians 6'2 174lbs 17yr old (SS) prospect Gabriel Rodriguez is being promoted from the Dominican Summer League to the Arizona Rookie League. Rodriguez signed July 2nd 2018 for $2.1MM out of Maturin, Venezuela. He is rated the organizations 11th best prospect by @MLBPipeline.

Akron RubberDucks RHP Robert Broom over his last 14 appearances.
- 1SV 19.2(IP) 10H 2R 1ER 10BB 21SO 0.46 ERA

#Indians OF prospect Ka'ai Tom has reached base in 62 of his last 64 games overall between (AA) Akron & (AAA) Columbus.

Akron RubberDucks transactions
LHP Anthony Gose placed on the Temporary Inactive List
RHP LHP Kyle Nelson activated from 7-day IL
RHP Chih-Wei Hu released

Lenny Torres is in weight room doing light band work. To start hitting the weights harder in 2 weeks as he makes the long road back.

Santiago’s hit streak up to 17 games. (He is not a prospect, just recognizing some good work from one of our youngsters)

RHP Chih-Wei Hu released

He was a disappointment. Seemed to be of about equal stature as Jefry Rodriguez when we acquired him; started in the middle of the Columbus rotation and wound up in middle relief in Akron.
Win a few lose a few.
He only cost a low minor IF Gionti Turner. I see he's doing OK at age 18 in the Appy League for the Tampa [surprise!] organization. 314/364/430. It looks like an 18 year old utility man; playing games in CF, LF, RF, 3B, 2B.

Guys, we just injected some ball players in our minor league system. Here is Todd's updated prospect list and it's kinda sick that Scott Moss doesn't even make the top 11.

My new #Indians Mid-Season top 10 prospects

1) 3B Nolan Jones
2) OF George Valera
3) RHP Ethan Hankins
4) LHP Logan Allen
5) RHP Daniel Espino
6) SS Tyler Freeman
7) RHP Triston McKenzie
8) 1B Bobby Bradley
9) 2B Aaron Bracho
10) SS Brayan Rocchio

Next:

11) C Bo Naylor

Nova is awfully young and just in the AZL. But I like what he's doing there this year. Hitting for average, walking, getting on base a lot, not striking out much. Hope he keeps that up.

Well, let me see if I can get my mind off trade for a few and do a quick rundown of tonight’s minor league action. Some good pitching to report, but not many wins or much hitting.

Clip Show lost 3-2. ... Civale looks to be back healthy. 7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. ... Tom 0-4. ... Johnson 1-4. ... Bradley 0-4 ... Chang 0-4. ... Haase 1-3, HR, 2 RBI, R.

Akron lost 2-1. ... Scott 6.2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K. ... Nelson faced 3 batters, walked 1 and struck out the other 2. ... Jones 0-4.

Hillcats lost 4-1. ... Morris 2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K. ... Freeman 0-3. ... OscarG 2-4, 2B.

Captains lost 5-1. Seeing the pattern here? ... Fermin 0-3, BB. ... Naylor 0-4. ... Engelmann 2-4, 2B, R.

Scrappers lost 5-3. Sigh. ... I think it’s against NYPL rules and regulations for Vargas to have 2 good outings in a row. He was lit up tonight. 5 earned on 10 hits in 4+ innings. ... Rocchio 0-4, SB. ... Valera 0-3, BB. ... Johnathan Rodriguez was 2-4 with 2 homers.

Both AZL Teams were off.

DSL Indians lost 10-9 (Completion Suspended game 7-12-19) ... Breton 4.0(IP) 1H 0R 0ER 2BB 3SO. ...
Martinez 3-5 R 2B 3RBI BB. ... Planchart 2-4 R 2RBI 2BB. ... Frias 1-3 R 3B 2RBI BB

The regular scheduled DSL games was then rained out.

Kyle Glaser @KyleAGlaser
Indians got two everyday OFs who can mash, one of whom is under control for many more years, and a promising young lefty who's a Top 100 prospect and in the major leagues. Impressive, impressive haul

Kyle Glaser @KyleAGlaser (Baseball America writer)
The Indians pro scouting department is one of the best in the game. That goes a long, long way

Bob Nightengale
@BNightengale
Several executives absolutely loved the return for the Cleveland #Indians

Adam McInturff
@2080adam
Victor Nova is the complex-level prospect headed from #Padres to #Indians in the Bauer three-team.
Per two scouts w/ backfields coverage, he’s a LHH bat-first utility guy who moves around the field but not up the middle. Flier w/ some feel to hit, pads the deal.

preseason writeups:

Scott Moss Ranked Cincinnati Reds #25 prospect after the 2018 season Midseason #23
Track Record: After sitting out his first two years at Florida recovering from Tommy John surgery, Moss was dominating in his only year on the mound for the Gators. After posting a 1.57 ERA with only two extra-base hits allowed in 23 innings, Moss was nearly as effective with low Class A Dayton in 2017. The crafty lefty was still effective and durable but not nearly as dominating in the Florida State League.

Scouting Report: Moss relies on feel for pitching, locating and messing with hitters' timing because he lacks a plus pitch. His 88-92 mph fastball is effective because he spots it well to the four corners of the strike zone. His slider flashes above-average and he mixes in a fringe-average changeup. Moss repeats his delivery well and throws consistent strikes, showing future average control and above-average command.

The Future: After starting 25 games in the high Class A Florida State league, Moss will be ticketed Double-A Chattanooga in 2019. With more seasoning of his changeup, Moss could fit as a swingman.

LOGAN ALLEN
SP, CLEVELAND INDIANS

Indians acquired LHP Logan Allen from the Padres as part of a three-team, seven-player trade.
Allen entered the 2019 campaign as a consensus top-100 prospect, but he has posted a 6.75 ERA and 14/13 K/BB ratio in 25 1/3 innings this summer at the major league level and a 5.15 ERA and 63/22 K/BB ratio in 57 2/3 innings at Triple-A. Maybe a change of scenery will serve as a kind of reset for the 22-year-old left-hander. He'll head to Triple-A Columbus for now to continue working on his craft. We could see him in Cleveland in September, maybe in a long relief role.

Jul 31, 2019, 11:08 AM ET

SCOTT MOSS
SP, CLEVELAND INDIANS

Indians acquired LHP Scott Moss from the Reds as part of a three-team, seven player-trade.
Moss may be viewed as a throw-in of sorts given the big names involved in this deal, but the 6-foot-5 left-hander is an intriguing prospect with a 3.44 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 102 innings (20 starts) this season at the Double-A level.

He is already 24 years old and needs to work on his command, but the mid-90s fastball will play and he also has a decent changeup and slider.

Maybe a change of scenery will serve as a kind of reset
The "change of scenery" line is kind of old and stale. Perhaps a change of pitching coach or of team's development philosopy will make a difference.
