Highlights:
Brayan Rocchio (2B, Columbus): 2-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI - Rocchio did his absolute best to make sure his name is not forgotten amidst all the talk of who the Guardians should call up from the Clippers with a pair of extra-base hits including a two-run blast to right center (105.1 MPH, 413 feet) in the fourth frame.
Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lake County): 3-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K - Knapczyk’s second three-hit game in as many days was an offensive masterpiece, with Christian driving in half of the Captain runs and coming within a triple of the cycle. He now has 13 total bases in 17 at-bats this week, an especially impressive feat against the seemingly all-conquering Whitecaps.
Jeffrey Mercedes (2B, Lynchburg): 2-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K - Mercedes rounded out the trio of two-RBI nights for the Hillcats with a multi-hit effort highlighted by a two-run double in the fourth that started to put the game out of the RiverDogs’ reach (made the score 6-2).
Pedro Dalmagro (C, ACL Guardians): 3-for-3, 2 R, HBP, CS - The 19-year-old has not had many games in Arizona this year, however his last two have gone extremely well with three hits in each. He would also reach in his fourth plate appearance on the day with a walk. Dalmagro is 9-for-15 in six games across June.
Notable Performances:
C.J. Kayfus (LF, Columbus): 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 BB - While Chase DeLauter has been getting most of the attention regarding a possible call-up to the Big Club, Kayfus has been generating buzz as well with his frequent home runs, like the one that left his bat at 108 MPH in the first inning last night.
Chase DeLauter (RF, Columbus): 1-5, 2 R, 1 K - Speaking of DeLauter, he kept putting up Triple-A numbers on Friday night with this multi-run effort.
Jorge Burgos (DH, Akron): 2-4, 1 RBI - Burgis’ sixth RBI of a four-game RBI streak and ninth in his last six games was the only one the Mallards of Main Street would get on a rough night at the corner of State and Main.
Angel Genao (SS, Akron): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B - Genao, who scored said run, extended his streak of two-hit games to three with the RubberDucks’ other multi-hit effort of the evening.
Rorik Maltrud (SP, Akron): ND, 1 IP, 1 BB, 3 K - Maltrud kept the ball from being put into play in an impressive return from the Injured List.
Wuilfredo Antunez (RF, Lake County): 2-4, 1 BB - Like Knapczyk’s, the Caps’ other multi-hit performance was the back half of a back-to-back, this time of two-hit games.
Ryan Cesarini (DH, Lynchburg): 1-3, 1 R, 1 3B, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 SB - Cesarini stole his 27th base of the season on a night when he reached thrice, including on a triple.
Luis Merejo (RF, Lynchburg): 1-5, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K - Merejo gave the Hillcats their first lead of the game on a two-run homer in the third, his tenth of the season, bringing his RBI total to 34 for the season and bringing him within two of 100 for his career.
Jose Pirela (CF, Lynchburg): 1-2, 2 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 Outfield Assist - Pirela took advantage of being the only other Hillcat to reach three times to record Lynchburg’s only multi-run performance of the night
Connor Whittaker (RP, Lynchburg): S (4), 2 IP, perfect - Whittaker needed only 19 pitches to induce six groundouts, the final one fielded by Connor himself, and puck up his fourth professional save - all of the multi-inning variety.
Alberto Mendez (3B, Lynchburg): 1-2, 1 R, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SF - Mendez joined in on the multi-RBI fun from the eighth spot in the lineup in a game that saw him hit his first domestic triple (He previously hit a pair of three-baggers in the DSL in 2022.).
David Leon (1B, ACL Guardians): 1-for-3, R, HR, RBI, BB - Leon slugged his first homerun in 18 minor league games this season and it was also his first extra-base hit after severe struggles to begin 2025.
Gabriel Rodriguez (2B, ACL Guardians): 1-for-4, 2B, RBI - A two-out RBI double was the highlight for Rodriguez, his second straight game with an extra-base hit and RBI.
Yerlin Luis (DH, ACL Guardians): 1-for-3, R, 2 RBIs, SF - Luis was the lone man with multiple run-scoring at-bats with an RBI single in the ninth and a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Jose Riera (2B, DSL Mendoza): 1-for-4, R, 2B, DP - The 17-year-old Venezuelan produced the team’s only extra-base hit in a first inning double and scored from there for the first run of the game. He has back-to-back games with a double and six straight where he has reached.
Gustavo Baptista (C, DSL Goryl): 1-for-3, 2 R, HR, RBI, HBP - Baptista hit his first homerun of the year in the sixth inning to give him an extra-base hit in two of his last three games. Baptista has also crowded the plate effectively for five hit by pitches in 14 games.
Angel Abreu (SS, DSL Goryl): 2-for-4, BB, E6F, DP - The leadoff man Abreu had an opportunity to drive in a run spoiled by an outfield assist as he reached base three times in total and was one-of-two players with multiple hits. The 16-year-old has been feast or famine thus far in his first professional season.
Osmar Torrealba (RF, DSL Goryl): 1-for-2, RBI, BB, OF assist - Torrealba had three quality at-bats with a single, walk and sacrifice fly, but also was credited with an outfield assist on a runner trying to advance to third. His second professional season is off to a tremendous start thanks to a .607 on-base percentage with ten walks in seven games.
Romer Taveras (LF, DSL Goryl): 2-for-3, BB - Taveras was able to reach base in three of his four plate appearances and was one-of-two players with multiple hits in the loss. After a slow start to the year, Taveras is 5-for-6 in his last two contests.
