7-3 win in the nightcap, only 4 rbis, rotten fielding by MudHens helped. Jordan Brown not famous for drawing walks takes 4 of them. Chad Huffman 2 hits, 3 runs scored. Phelps 1 hit, batting 414. Chisenhall single and 2 K. Valbuena a 2-run double.

Re: Minor Matters
197In a classic pitchers duel between current and former Tribe minor league lefties, Scott Barnes and Ryan Edell battle through 7 scoreless innings. All Barnes shows on his line are 2 hits, no walks, and 10 K. (Edell just about as good). But we win the battle of the bullpen, with Eric Berger throwing 2 more perfect innings with a couple more strikeouts.
forgotten OF's Tim Fedroff and John Drennen each with a pair of hits. Jordan Henry walks and slaps his 4th double, a little more power from Henry to start 2011.

Re: Minor Matters
201First weekly BA HOT PROSPECT list is out, and who could be hotter than Pomeranz?
No. 1 DREW POMERANZ, LHP
INDIANS
Team: high Class A Kinston
Age: 21
Why He's Here: 0-0, 0.00, 2 GS, 11 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 17 SO, 2 BB
The Scoop: Coming out of Ole Miss, the scouting report on Pomeranz was that he had a plus fastball, a devastating curveball and some concerns about his control.
In his first two starts, we've seen the 92-93 mph fastball—he used it almost exclusively to shut down Winston-Salem in his first start. And we've seen the curveball—he picked up four of his eight strikeouts against Wilmington with the breaking ball.
What we haven't seen is any problems with his control. Pomeranz has walked just three batters in his first two starts, and he's generally gotten ahead of hitters by placing a fastball on the outer half or freezing them with his curveball.
Pomeranz has the kind of frame that scouts look for in a starter. He has the plus stuff and he has the mentality to get better. After his second start he was upset for the one hit he did allow, because he was sure if he had located it better, it would have been strike three.
The 2010 first-round pick will likely be moving to Double-A Akron before too long.

Re: Minor Matters
202Baseball America is now chatting about the hot prospects
Question: How do you like Lonnie Chisenhall's debut in Columbus ? Lots of xb hits.
Ben Badler: Yup, the guy can flat-out hit. And I think he's going to surprise people with those extra-base hits now that his shoulder is healthy. It's not Moustakas-type power, but I'm counting on 20-25 home runs this year.

203Jesse (Cleveland): Will Drew Pomeranz be a top 20 prospect by the end of the year?
Ben Badler: I certainly think he has that potential.

207Both of those lefties have had trouble avoiding walks. Early, but good starts for both.
Re: Minor Matters
208Last night's Aeros 9-5 loss. Austin Adams with an unimpressive outing, 5 innings, 4 runs on 4 walks. Bryan Price much worse: 5 runs on 6 hits in 2 innings. At bat, Kyle Bellows with a pair of hits, one a double, and caught stealing. Tim Fedroff on one of his infrequent hot streaks with a pair of hits even a homer. Jordan Henry doing what he usually does: a single, a walk, a steal.

Re: Minor Matters
209Kinston fell 5-3. Only 2 regulars batting over 250: Bo Greenwell with his usual April spree had two hits, including his 1st double (he has a homer and lots of singles) is batting 391. Tyler Holt, another solid leadoff man, with a hit and walk, is batting 300.
Nonprospect (I think) starter McFarland with a solid 6 innings, 1 earned run, 5/1 K/BB. Rule 5 returnee Jose Flores roughed up along with 2 runs in 1 1/3. Second blown save and ERA drops a bit to 20.25
