Re: GameTime!™
26433Bo Naylor has been just great over the past month plus. Yesterday his 9th homer and 2 walks. His OPS has reached 787.
Kwan with a perfect day: double triple 3 walks. 2 rbi
Josh with 2 more rbi, is at 93.
Yet the team was 3-15 with RISP and lost an easy won to win by one run.
Another classic game for Mr. Clutch:
Arias with a 2 out bases empty double
2 out none out fly out
man on 2nd 1 out, strikeout
7th inning: 2nd and 3rd 2 out, ground out
9th inning ball to end the game

26435the game starts with a pair of defensive flubs by today's LF and SS
Maikel Garcia singles on a sharp line drive to left fielder Will Brennan. Maikel Garcia to 2nd. Maikel Garcia advances to 2nd, on a fielding error by left fielder Will Brennan.
Field Error
Bobby Witt Jr. reaches on a throwing error by shortstop Jose Tena. Maikel Garcia to 3rd.

Re: GameTime!™
26437my favorite dead horse to re-beat is the clutch hitting.
Cam Gallagher who is hitting 133 overall with a 338 OPS. about the same in RISP 147/211/176
Gabriel Arias with RISP a worse average, a bit of power 143/230/286 That's unacceptable for a regular player
Lots of others on the G's are below .200 averages in such situations, some do have redeeming qualities
Calhoun 140/191/302 493 at least some are extra base hits
Bo Naylor 182/317/318 691 routlnely draws walks to extend potential rallies
Straw 193-242-246 488
Laureano 196-272-315 587 hitting along with Calhoun in the heart of the order is no solution
Ramirez 207-353-359 712 as good as any evidence of Jose off his game
Gonzalez 220-214-341 655
Brennan 250/278/333 611
and the clutch stars
Kwan 305-362-382 744 love watching him punch the ball the opposite way to score a run
Fry 318-400-727 1127 Needs to get more playing time
Josh Naylor 358-401-547 948 Deserves MVP top half dozen votes

26438Swept by the 102 loss Royals.
You may find positives in likable players but as a TEAM, this group sucks.

Re: GameTime!™
26439failrly accurate one word analysis.
just imagine how bad it could have been if they didn't have a second line of starting pitchers available

Re: GameTime!™
26440I don't understand why Bieber is starting tomorrow rather than today * which would have been Bibee's turn. Anyway, Hunter Gaddis who has concluded a very forgettable AAA season with a 2-10 record and an ERA of 6.14 "earns" the start. He finished tied for 2nd in International League losses; he didn't pitch enough innings to officially qualify, but if he had his ERA would have been the highest in the IL. WHIP of 1.57 would rate 3rd highest. BA against 279 would have been 4th highest.
18 homers in 73 innings is quite impressive too, but not nearly up to Zach Plesac's level on incompetence: 30 in 94 innings.
I cannot imagine Gaddis surviving roster moves over the winter so at best he'll be returning to spring training as a minor league rostered invitee.
* I'm sure it's only 4 days from his last AAA outing, so I probably do know.

Re: GameTime!™
26441Might as well roll Stephans out for the 8th inning every time we're ahead since that's his job description. Regardless of him blowing it every time,.
Why not switch him with Lopez at least?
This time we got lucky and scored 3 in the 9th and Clase got 3 outs after putting the lead two on base again.

Re: GameTime!™
26442They beat Texas and Baltimore and lose to KC. The definition of this totally inconsistent team.
Re: GameTime!™
26444Agree civ it's Lopez time for the 8th

Re: GameTime!™
26445and Tito agreed with us last night. He did his job. delosSantos didn't in the 7th; and Clase didn't in the 9th.
Clase's inning was confounding; started with 2 outs, on one Giminez gets extra credit. Then he hit a bat; then a single; wild pitch; 2 run double.
I think he's looking forward to a restful winter break. He's had 50+ save opportunities. That's a lot of pressure.
Curious how the pen will be used today since many of the top arms have been used two days in a row already.
