Based his solid reliable work, De Los Santos moves into the 8th inning setup role, and promptly implodes. Sandlin who has not been very reliable follows up by increasing the deficit.
At least there was an always satisfactory rally back.
Brennan stays hot. Naylor adds to his RBI total and passes slumping Ramirez in OPS, Jose below 800 for the first time in a long time.

Clase gets the save with Straw catching the final out of the game up against the wall. Nothing comes too easy for this team.
Our bad defense [2 errors] led to one run; RedSox bad defense [3 errors] led to 2.
Naylor made for his error with another big RBI. 43 are tied for 9th in the majors and for 6th in the AL. His OPS is steadily rising, at 783. Ramirez is down to 760. No one on the team deserves to be on the all star team but probably it will come down to Naylor Ramirez or Beiber.
Rosario wasn't hitless which means he had 3 hits. Feast or familne.

Last night's game against the Boston Sad Sox made me happy and sad at the same time. Jose was incredible--MVP.

Kluber was sad to watch.

Red Sox manager, Cora, just left him out there throwing Batting Practice. I wouldn't be surprised to see him DFA'd soon. He clearly is done. Can't throw 90 anymore and his off speed stuff is flat.

Like watching Willy Mays at the end

One of the worst individual performances in the history of the sport, featuring:
A league-leading 5th passed ball
5 steals against, 1 error on a throw to second and another air mailed throw
2 strikeouts
a threat ending double play
Bo Naylor in case anyone's wondering does still exist and continues to get on base, hit for power, frame pitches, and not throw out basestealers any worse, or better than Z

Giminez a two run homer [#4] Bell solo [#5}. Beiber with 5 shutout innings.

Catcher of the day: Gallagner nailed a baserunner ---granted some of the credit can go to Bieber who's better at holding runners than McK was yesterday. No errors. No passed balls. No wild pitches. 1 strike out in his 2 a bats. It's pretty easy to rate better than the game Z played yesterday.

and as I typed, another run and it's 4-0 into the 6th

civ - this was a typical case of Kluber having to suck up innings to save the bullpen. This is what he is paid for - he is a professional and understands.

And the bullpen appreciated it.

If Kluber can no longer get hitters out then he needs to retire.

Zunino reappeared. One strike out, one GIDP, one neither. Let one wild pitch get past him to score a run. Only 3 steals: hard to blame the pitcher for them all since there was one each vs. a different reliever.
The front office comments about why Naylor can't come up: he'd be C2 or C3 and not get enough playing time is highly disingenuous. There is no reason why Naylor can't be the starting catcher with the reliable defender Gallagher backing him up.

Another stat to note: Gallagher has a "catcher ERA of 2.62" Zunino's is 4.64.
Absolutely nothing justifies keeping him.

Spent yesterday afternoon at Progressive Field out if left field not too far from Steven Kwan who had virtually nothing to do out there. The A's are a truly miserable team. The leadoff man is a 24 year old basestealer; might have a future. The rest of the lineup are old rookies, has beens and never weres. The starting pitcher looked good, The fellow who came in for the eighth was an embarrassment to the sport.
Rosario made a nice leaping grab. Straw made a nice running catch and came very close to grabbing a sinking line. Nice throws by Ramirez. No screwups by Gallagher.
Bell's homer was while I was talking wit a friend.
Straw almost made history but his drive was a few feet too low to clear the fence.
Allen threw lots of pitches.
a couple of balls hit hard off De Los Santos.
Sandlin was fine.
By the time Morgan came in it really didn't matter that he was effective

Team's been very inconsistent.

With July 4 a week+ away, it's important to keep within 2 -3 games of the lead. It's going on 3 months and we've managed to cut the Twins lead by a whopping 1/2 game.

This is shaping up to be a long but exciting finish to the season.

Currently Baseball Reference.com has Cleveland with a 34.6% chance of making the playoffs and a 0.2% chance of winning the World Series.

In comparison, due to strength of schedule left to play, Minnesota, 1 game ahead of Cleveland in the standings (prior to Sunday's game), has a 62.7% chance of making the playoffs and a 1.4% chance of winning the World Series.
