pretty much the same game as usual We score two runs; one on a double play. A rare homer, by Ramirez. No one delivered a man on base. Now 4-10 vs lefty starters.
Right handed hitters Fry at 1st and Arias in RF were both hitless
The three guys who have hit in May: Kwan Ramirez and Bell each with a hit.
Rosario and Giminez and Brennan also singled.
zunino struck out twice
Mot a good night for Bibee, 7 hits 2 walks and 4 runs in 3 2/3.
Re: GameTime!™
2617712-9 vs RH starters; 4-10 vs lefties
We get a righty today so might have a chance. But his ERA is over 5 so that is not a good sign,
I note Cam Gallagher is hitless for his last 22. But I'd still like to see him in there much more often than zunino.
And Bo Naylor's 7 homers 7 doubles 26 walks are enticing alternative.
1/9 in nabbing basestealers is a big dropff from last year; no worse than the 2 guys in Cleveland

Re: GameTime!™
26179balls don't routinely roll past him. Historically Zunino has greatly outhit him, but this does not appear to the same younger Zunino
Re: GameTime!™
26180My goodness, this team is awful.
Another goose egg with 4 singles, two of which left the infield.
Unwatchable.
Is Tito's job on the line?

Re: GameTime!™
26181What happened to our Super Hitting Coach?
The team certainly is unwatchable; thankfully I had to turn down a free ticket from a friend due to schedule conflict.

Re: GameTime!™
26182Now 4-11 vs lefty starters.
All 4 hits came from rookie RH bats: Freeman 2; Arias 1; Fry 1.
The "veterans" were 0-20
Super Z with a passed ball [his 4th] led to one unearned run; struck out all 3 times up including once with the bases loaded.
Believe it or not, he's now 0 for his last 20 with 15 strike outs.

Re: GameTime!™
26183The one with the bases loaded was a terrible called third strike, Hard to pick on one player when the team only scored 4 runs in 3 games. This team currently is terrible.
Re: GameTime!™
26184It's his defense that is the major concern. Giminez is still playing a fine 2nd base, Straw is still a gold glove CF. The RF pair have done OK afield.
Re: GameTime!™
26185The problem is that his defense has always been a problem. The Indians decided his bat and price was worth it.
Here is my idea of what is currently wrong with the Guardians,
Gimenez is trying to live up to his contract. So is Bell. Rosario is wondering where he is playing next year and why Gimenez got an extension when the star of the team Ramirez says Rosario should be extended. Ramirez is trying to carry the team. Gonzales and Brennen were pitted against each other and both struggled under the pressure. Straw is trying to prove he can hit and so is Naylor, The catcher is pressing to prove he is recovered from an injury that ends a lot of catchers careers.
So we got a very uncomfortable offensive team where almost every player is pressing. Hopefully they figure it out because I could be wrong but I do not see them trading any pitching for hitting. Possibly Rosario or one of the young middle infielders.
So a good question for us is other than catcher what position would you try to trade for ?

Re: GameTime!™
26186The lineup is unbalanced, tilting to the left. It is a shame that the FA DH they signed was another lefty.
They are not going to trade Naylor to get an equivalent kind of player who hits right handed.
They won't trade Staw because he defense is so superior.
they will soon have 8 or 9 starters when McKenzie and Civale comes back, we can assume Plesac earns his way back, and Williams is ready for promotion. They like Gaddis more than Battenfield. You "can never have too much pitching" but you also can't start 10 guys. Logically they trade someone who can bring something solid in return.
They need a right handed hitting RF. It could be Gonzalez but there were plenty of doubts about Oscar's ability to sustain what the did last year.'
Even our best OF prospect is another lefty.
Unfortunately they traded a pair of young kids who are looking like very promising RH bats: Junior Caminero RH hitting IF tearing up High A as a 19 year old.
RH C-1B Yainer Diaz was big power bat in AA and AAA for Houston last year and now easing his way into the big leagues
Diaz [and Phil Maton] got us Straw. So a fair exchange
Camintero got us Tobas Myers who didn't even survive spring training in 2022.
You never know what will work out.

Re: GameTime!™
26190Yesterday's game the Cream Puff's offense featured 11 hits including 3 doubles, a triple and a (gulp) HR . They were also granted 5 walks and managed to produce 4 big runs. Still choked it away in the 9th.
