Tampa Steve lives a little north of Tampa so he probably was OK. LouFla lives in Naples so I hope they are OK.
My next door neighbor in RI lives in Cape Coral during the winter. His house got flooded but minor structural damage. He's down in Fl now ripping out all his carpets and fighting with insurance companies.
Glad I live in AZ during the winter. Headed there in 10 days.
Re: General Discussion
13097Yeah. Insurance is going to be a big problem. Hope Lou is ok. Your residence still rhode island?

13098Thought you were a permanent resident of Arizona.

Re: General Discussion
13099Nope. I'm a snowbird.
I'm still a RI resident. If I moved my permanent residence to AZ, I would have to pay RI state taxes when I sell the RI house.
Thought about selling a few years ago. Glad I didn't. Home prices have really increased.

13101Flying (hopefully) Oct 18.
I never minded flying, pre Covid. Now it's a nightmare.

Re: General Discussion
13103as for baseball, I hope Giminez gets out of the first offensive slump of his season. 5 K in 5 tries yesterday.
He did not end the regular season well:
in his last 7 games he was 4 for 26 with 12 strikeouts.
it has not lasted long, in his previous 8 games he was 10 for 27 with only 4 strikeouts

Re: General Discussion
13105Glad they do they have Cody Morris to add back to the roster; he looked awfully good.
And Civale will replace McCarty.
So keep our number of rookies on the active roster intact:
Bo N; Arias the ineffective; almost the entire outifield--Kwan Gonzalez Brennan Benson; Morris

Re: General Discussion
13107More like Arias the traded.
Look at this point it is very, very clear that Amed and Gimenez are going to be SS/2B next season and probably well beyond. With Jose Ramirez actually lobbying for an Amed extension (and Amed being a really good #2 hitter) this is virtually a done deal.
So we can move on from all those middle infield options still in the minors. They will either have their position switched (to what at this point??) or traded.
I realize guys like Arias and Rocchio are too valuable to be utility guys though but I suppose 1 or 2 of the others could be utility types.

Re: General Discussion
13108I would rather have Rosario at short than Errias. Also, I would send Nolan Jones a first basement mitt and tell him it is First or nothing.

Re: General Discussion
13109So here is the question we should be discussing. I think everyone agrees that the Dians need another RBI bat in the lineup. Do they add a DH type ? If not just DH what position would you suggest ? If first base, would it be a right/left situation with Naylor ?
Re: General Discussion
13110I will skip the last question and comment on the IF situation. Rocchio sounds like a guy to hold onto for now at least. He's only 21. He has some of the Lindor qualities: "high baseball IQ" can hit and field and draws some walks. Let's see what happens when he hits the majors.
, it's still possible that Rosario winds up as the super Utility guy, he's rated a solid but not great SS; he does a lot of good stuff at bat but because he walks so rarely his OPS is still not much over 700. We are all suitably impressed with him as a young leader and smart player.
