the X man returned to Columbus. As anticipated. I am however awaiting notice of Morgan's trip down I-71, too.
The only reliever on the Clippers roster who's on the G's 40 man is Castro who I can gladly live without.

I wonder if they'd consider Cody Morris? He's on the 40 man roster so promotion would not use an additional option. Although he's still on the 60-day DL so adding him would require DFA someone else, but McCarty is just as expendable as when he was released a month ago.

6 rehab innings in Arizona, 9 in Columbus, I suppose he's not considered ready but he's done very well in his limited time, with the Clippers
9 innings 3 hits 3 runs 4 walks 18 strikeouts.

A contingent of Major League Baseball representatives and a national TV audience will have their eyes on Truist Field on Saturday night. The reason: the Charlotte Knights’ home field is the only place in professional baseball where so-called robot umpires, ball-strike replay challenges, the pitch clock, and larger bases are simultaneously in use, team executives said.

All are innovations that have been tested in various minor league parks and circuits in recent seasons. What’s different in Charlotte is that, for the past month, all have been available. And from the start of this season, the robot umpire — automated ball-strike determinations — and the pitch clock have only been used together at Truist Field among International League clubs.

Automated pitch calls are determined by electronic tracking and then relayed to the home plate umpire, who wears an earpiece and delivers the call on the field.

MLB is testing the systems and equipment above as part of a campaign to speed up the pace of play. Dan Rajkowski, Knights chief operating officer, said the automated ball-strike system and pitch clock used at all Charlotte home games this season have shortened games by a half-hour to an average of 2 hours, 35 minutes.

The lone pace-of-play experiment not in use by the Knights — yet — is the banned infield shift, requiring at least two infielders be positioned on both sides of second base. In MLB, the shift, employed to take advantage of hitter tendencies, is blamed for stifling action and further motivating hitters to swing for the fences — a scenario that exacerbates the homer-or-strikeout scenarios plaguing the game.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and other executives hope to introduce these changes in the next several seasons to reduce game lengths.

The Knights will face the Syracuse Mets at 7 p.m. on MLB Network. Rajkowski said the team has issued 60 credentials for the game, including top deputies to Manfred in town to better gauge the effectiveness of the rules and systems in use at Truist Field.

Rajkowski said it’s hard to say — yet — how the rules tests are affecting business but he is bullish on the prospects. Getting fans out of the ballpark by 9:30 p.m., assuming a 7 p.m. start, makes for a happier crowd, he believes.

“The goal is to keep fan interest and keep it exciting,” he added. “We went to almost 30 minutes a game (shorter) with all these things in place. Knowing this business, it’s about two-and-a-half hours before people start exiting. Whether it’s the ninth inning or not.”

So far this season, Charlotte once again ranks among the top clubs for ticket sales and attendance in minor league baseball. The Knights’ season ends next month.

I was looking at free agents for next year and it turns out that Michael Brentley and Sportstrac projects and 8 mill salary

Michael Brantley LF 35.2 L L HOU $16,000,000 $8,152,175

He is out with a shoulder injury. Isn't that what he had in Cleveland?

Would the Guardians be interested on 1 or 2 year deal?

Basically Kwan = Brantley. And if his shoulder, at this age, is still an issue he is to be avoided.

Will Benson has always debuted very ineffectively at a new level, and is continuing that tradition, 3-29 as a major leaguer.

in 2018 his first season in full season ball he hit 180/324/370 on return in 2019: 272/371/604
in 2019 midseason arrival in High A; he hit 189/290/304 didn't return after the pandemic cancelled 2020 but moved to Akron and was far bettre 221/374/469
in 2021 midseason arrived in AAA he hit 161/271/333 and on return in 2022 he led the league in OPS 278/426/522

So perhaps his awful start with the Guardians will be followed by a successful 2023. But they have to decide it he's worth a roster spot over the winter;
