nal lines for Pomeranz in his first 2 starts for Akron
4 2/3 3 1 1 1 5
5 0/3 3 1 1 2 6
Thanks CIV
Another way to look at that is 6 hits per 9 innings, 3 walks and 11 strike outs.
Re: Minor Matters
858Aeros finish with 3 hits, no runs, Pomeranz earns the loss. Fellow No. 1 pick Adam Miller is much less successful: 2 innings, 3 runs on 5 hits.

Re: Minor Matters
859Kinston rallies late to tie in 7th and win on Adam Abraham double in the 8th for 5-4 margin. 2 hits by Abraham, double from Abreu, 2 hits by Tyler Holt. Or it could be Trevor Holt, but I don't think so.
Brach 5 innings, 3 runs. Preston Guilmet 2 innings, no runs, 4 K.

Re: Minor Matters
863Best bullpen arm, lefty, MLB ready?
" I am not young enough to know everything."
Re: Minor Matters
864Best bullpen arm, lefty, at AAA, is Hagadone, but not sure he's big league bullpen ready. I've you'll accept a righty Chen Lee may be surging ahead of Judy and Putnam. I can't think of another bullpen lefty above Class A unless some of the starters like delaCruz or Packer became relievers and both have been quite inconsistant this year. Scott Barnes could convert to the pen, but he's on the DL with a leg injury.
Re: Minor Matters
865BA Q/A:
J-Carter (Cleveland): Jim, Another bomb from Kipnis last night, any reason why the Indians continue to leave him in the minors when he could be helping the big club? What kind of offensive potential, power/average/speed, does he have?
Jim Callis: I can only guess they want him to continue to refine his defense because he has been playing second base for less than two years. But in that just-completed column I referenced earlier, I led off by talking about how the Indians have to promote him. Orlando Cabrera and Co. have been terrible, and it's not like they're Gold Glovers. Kipnis would get the job done defensively and provide a lot more offense. A lot more.

Re: Minor Matters
866Aaron (Frankfort): Drew Pomeranz. Are you concerned anout a third-pitch development? Fastball and knuckle-curve are solid but is the third pitch offering gonna end forcing him to the pen? Some starters get by fine with two plus pitches, can he do the same?
Jim Callis: As a lefty who can rack up strikeouts with his fastball and curve, the changeup isn't as important. I still see him as a frontline starter, even if the changeup is just adequate.

Re: Minor Matters
868Civ- I don't care if it's a righty, but since I am in favor of making a deal that includes Sipp(lefties are always in demand), Acta would not function well without 2 lefties available in the bullpen.

Re: Minor Matters
869I'd be oK getting Aaron Laffey back for the bullpen, but the AA IF we got for him retired.
Re: Minor Matters
870Does the ball carry well in the heat in Eastlake? Or are the pitchers just feeling so miserable that they are ineffective? Captains in a day game this afternoon, are behind 14-11 after 4 1/2 innings. Kyle Wetmore's ERA rises to 8.50 after staggering through 3 1/3 innings, 6 hits, 6walks, 9 runs, merely 8 of them earned.
In the first 4 innings of hitting opportunites, the Captains have 14 hits, including:
Aguillar, 2 singles, a homer, 4 rbi
Moncrief 2 homer, walk, single, 4 rbi
Urshela, single and double
Monsalve 2 singles.
Watch the runs pile up, click on this link periodically during the day:
2 more Captains runs in the 5th narrow the gap to 14-13. They scored those 2 on two singles, 2 walks, and 3 wild pitches.
Than neither team scores any runs at all in the entire 6th inning. We go to the 7th,
