Good for Jose.
Looks like they didn't rework his contract just added 5 years to it. He still is relatively cheap this year and next.
As to being the "face" of the Gs....face is about it. He can't do interviews in English. Is he the "leader" of the team that the rest of the team looks up to?
So tomorrow stats the quest for the playoffs with pitchers, Jose and the jags.
Same as last year.

No doubt about it.

Re: General Discussion
12861One down, two to go.
Mercado and Bradley next.
Maybe they could get another middle infielder or more pitching.

Re: General Discussion
12862They found a team that was willing to give us something for Zimmer??!!
Actually they need more pitchers for the back of the bullpen so this fills a need
And if he has any options left they can demote and promote him as necessity requires

Re: General Discussion
12863From what I read....Anthony Castro 26 has an option left stuff very average
Re: General Discussion
12865Might not keep up the pace but so far Kwan among leaders with avg 600. OBP 750. Walks 3. SLG 800. OPs 1550
Made a nice diving catch too
Has played both LF and RF. Unfortunately they still 3 outfielders each game.

Re: General Discussion
12866Simply keep Kwan and Owen Miller in the lineup and keep loading up on contact hitters to surround Jose Ramirez and Franmil.
We already have baserunners.
Use the starting rotation and manufacture runs.

Re: General Discussion
12867i second your proposal. I like baseball played that way. Although it's about 40 years out of date.
It looks like they may have an almost full lineup's worth of capable hitters.
I thought Chang had made a statement that he's ready to take on an everyday role but his last 2 weeks of spring training he was kind of back to ground zero.
Ernie Clement is the ultimate overachiever and has convinced me despite my reservations that he can be a terrific backup at most every position.

Re: General Discussion
12869Let's see.
4 games with that powerhouse KC team.
First 2 games G's score 1 run
Second 2 games G's score 27 runs
Who are these guys?

Re: General Discussion
12870What is the all-time major league record [since 1901] for the longest beginning of the season 0- for performers at one position at the start of the season?
There was the one famous 0 for April by Richie Scheinblum but I do not believe he was out there every day.
oh bad news: while looking Richie up on line I discovered he died last year at age 79. Gee I guess anyone who was major leaguer when I was still in school in Cleveland is my definition an old man [if alive] at this point.
