Franmil Reyes will get time in right field during spring training, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Reyes enters 2022 as the Guardians' obvious choice for designated hitter. With the National League adopting the DH as well, there's no guarantee he'll be needed to play the field very often. Instead, this move keeps the 26-year-old familiar with the outfield -- the Guardians have weaknesses in the lineup at both corner outfield spots.

Bradley Zimmer and Oscar Mercado are most likely to open the season in those positions, but Reyes' strong bat figures to be an everyday presence in the lineup after he hit .254/.324/.522 with 30 home runs, 85 RBI, 57 runs scored and four stolen bases in 115 games last season.

If they're willing to let a rookie start the season in the majors for a change why not put Kwan in one of the corners.
Ditto Oscar Gonzalez whose 3 extra base hits in the first 3 spring games is probably equal to or greater what the aforementioned two are likely to amass for the whole camp
Naylor says he's healthy; I'm sure they'll take it slowly with him but we can hope he's ready for April in Ohio.

And then there's always the last minute signing of the last free agent outfielder nobody else wanted. Those bargain bums usually only last a month or so but that could give Naylor time to finish his recovery; Kwan and Oscar get their prescribed days in the minor.

Conforto 2021 numbers were pretty similar to Pham's. 728 OPS is kind of a normal Cleveland OF. He's only 29 so there's more chance he could turn it around. But he'd undoubtedly cost more too I guess Pham's the Man, if they bother at all.

Logan Allen Sr. gave up 4 runs in 1 inning
Sam Hentges 5 in less than an inning.
Both are out of options; Logan has done little to earn a spot; Hentges has had enough success in the bullpen and some good looking pitchers that I suppose he'll win a job but he'll have to show at least a bit of talent.

03/19/22 Cleveland Guardians signed free agent 2B Mitchell Tolman to a minor league contract.

If there's one thing we really need it's a 2nd baseman.

He's had some decent offensive numbes, although a 27 year old who's only played 75 games in AAA is quite evidently less valuable than about a dozen or two of Guardians' current crop of middle infielders.

When asked about the Shaw rumor, manager Terry Francona said, “We can’t talk about stuff we can’t talk about. I would say that someone saw him out in the tent (where the players eat) and he’s not here for his personality. We didn’t bring him in for his personality. Read into that what you want.”
