Yeah, I know, but it sounds tough for the player; then again as I noted Amed seems able to deal with flexibility.
So we can have a Gabriel Arias/ Stephen Kwan platoon.
And it looks like Josh Naylor may be able to return to RF. That would be fortunate.
And Miles Straw in center.
And add in one backup: maybe Palacios, maybe Gonzalez, maybe Mercado. NOT Zimmer.
That resolves our biggest problem, right?
Re: General Discussion
12797To add to this Jon Heyman on MLB Network said Jays still talking with G's about Jose Ramirez.
Remember Shapiro (Jays) hired all our guys in Cleveland. He and Atkins are best friends with our guys.
IF you are following the division the White Sox are BEYOND loaded. Get real here.
But in addition the Twins have made major moves. Detroit too. Even KC has added on.
Would not surprise me if Cleveland took advantage (like Oakland) of a clear seller's market and took another year off.
A year to look at their oodles of options in the middle infield for one thing.

Re: General Discussion
12798Depends on who initiates the phone call.
Teams calling the G's will be talking about pitching or Ramirez. Not much else anybody would be interested in. Lots of JAGs.
Hopefully, the G's should be calling looking for outfielders.

12799Dodgers ink Freddie Freeman.
Rockies sign Kris Bryant
Phillies take on Kyle Schwarber
Blue Jayes deal for Matt Chapman
Cubs take Suzuki
Royals give Grienke $13M for a year
And they're not alone,
03/17/22 Cleveland Guardians signed free agent RHP Ian Gibaut to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
03/17/22 Cleveland Guardians signed free agent RHP Jake Jewell to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Re: General Discussion
12801But Twins don't have the disadvantage of being a small market team.
Oh, yes they do.

Re: General Discussion
12806I have to assume that the other teams are using all or mostly minor league pitchers as the Guardians are so early hitting doesn't mean much, but anyway:
Chang has homered and doubled and has been playing 2nd base; read a suggestion I think by Hoynes that he may be given the first crack at 2nd after his solid second half of 2021 at the plate.
Oscar Gonzalez has two doubles and a homer. With the lack of serious OF competition he could win a job
Speaking of which, Brad Zimmer is in midseason form with 4 strikouts in 5 tries. At age 29 he's well beyond the trying to prove himself stage. Maybe all he needs is a change of scenery which worked for Naquin [although the latter had had some good periods with Cleveland too]. They'll need to clear some roster space and Zimmer should be a priority departure.

Re: General Discussion
12808Speaking of Chang it will be interesting to see if his 2nd half was the real deal. If so he is a lineup necessity.

12809Lol well really Cleveland being a football town primarily is actually a reason for the G's NOT to have a big payroll.seagull wrote:Browns are wheeling and dealing. G's sitting on their hands.
