Robinson Canó leads Giants victory over Criollos With three runs batted in

Robinson Canó was 2-4, with a triple and three RBIs, while Raúl Valdés threw a good ball and the Dominican champions Gigantes del Cibao defeated the Puerto Rican champions Criollos de Caguas 5-3, in the closing game of the second day of the Santo Domingo 2022 Caribbean Series , which is held at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium.
Valdés (1-0) only allowed a couple of hits and one run in 5.2 innings of work, allowing three hits, with one walk and five strikeouts and the Dominican Republic won its second game of the tournament, improving its record to 2-0.
In the first inning, Robinson Canó hit a triple that drove in Hanser Alberto, while Marcell Ozuna hit a sacrifice fly to bring Canó to the plate and put the game 2-0 in favor of the home team. 0-2
The Puerto Ricans reacted in the sixth, David Vidal had a 2 out hit and Danny Ortiz followed with an RBI single the first run by Criollos, causing Valdés to leave the mound. 1-2
He was replaced in the box by Ryan Kussmaul, who snuffed out the threat and kept the visitors at bay, with the game 2-1. The American was followed by Huáscar Brazobán (7th), Luis Castillo (7th).
In the seventh inning, with the bases loaded and two out, Cano hit a 2 run single and the lead increased to 4-1 the Dominican lead. 1-4
But in the eighth, Vidal hit a 2 run homer off Reymin Guduán to bring it within 4-3. Jhan Maríñez entered to throw and was in charge of extinguishing the threat. 3-4
In the bottom half of the 8th, Marcell Ozuna opened with a hit and advanced to second on a passed ball. Henry Urrutia grounded out to the infield and Ozuna moved to third. Moisés Sierra lined out to third and Ronald Guzmán's infield hit drove in Ozuna, putting the game 5-3. 3-5
In the ninth, Juan Minaya did his job, retiring all three batters he faced to record the save.
