Hernandez and nearly everyone on Saturday.
Luplow 3 run homer and another 3 run homer which was readjusted to a 2 run double.
Roberto Perez scored 4 runs on a single and 3 walks.
really solid 7 innings for Civale. So far my worries about him have been unwarranted. I am looking forward to our pitchers finally getting to work outside of the Central Divisions for the first time since 2019 for a broader test

Before I forget I want to point out that since Detroit moved on from the Cleveland series, they proceeded to pummel Houston the first 2 games of that series.

So those who downplayed the sweep of Detroit....forget it.

Bauers and Gamel at their peaks of offensive futility yesterday. 0-4 with 3K and 0-3 with 3K respectively.
Gamel now 0-12 with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts
Bauer is 1-16 with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts bringing his career WAR to -0.7,

It's not like either of these guys is falling off after a good spring. Or much of a career especially for bauers. He was so lousy that never bothered bringing him over from eastlake last summer. he batted 201 and 226 the previous seasons.

Can Bradley be any worse? That would be hard to accomplish.
Are there lots of teams ready to pounce and grab Bauers if he's DFAd? We've lost better hitters than him.
Gamel batting leadoff is absurd. If he must play bat him last.

Great points Civ. I believe by the end of April there will be changes to the roster. Some things are just obvious. As I watch games and shots are posted of the dugouts, there does not seem to be any joking or jostling between the guys. Remember the baseball dolls made by Cookie and Bauer? None of that fellowship or Teamship (?) has yet developed. I would love to see that develop.

What else can be said about Beiber? It is truly a treat to watch him pitch, what talent!

I absolutely agree civ. At this point it's practically a sin not to have Bobby Bradley on this team at the very least.

I do believe that because of the option situation they opted to give Bauers and Gamel extended looks. I get it.

OK extended is over now.

The looks have not been extended, I have to admit; and in another context a friend brought up the "0 for April" of Richie Scheinblum back in 68 I think it was. But neither won his job due to a solid spring; in Bauers' case it was depsite a far worse spring than his competitor.
Both are better defensive players than the alternatives and defense matters a lot for this team. But please spare us any more Bauers at the least.

I'd start playing Naylor at 1st as I assume against the Reds with Reyes in right
Against AL teams until Bradley arrives I'd have Naylor at 1st vs at least some righties who would play right? Well if Johnson remains in Columbus too I'd stick Gamel there even he's awful too and play a Rosario daily in center
One of the B-G pair in the lineup is at least better than 2

The White Sox dropped Nick Williams

Made the majors at 23 and did well https://www.baseball-reference.com/play ... um=linker-

Nick Williams, once believed to be a future core piece for the Philadelphia Phillies, has been called up by the Chicago White Sox.

Tony La Russa’s team has been hit hard by injuries in the outfield early, and with Billy Hamilton the latest to head to the injured list, Williams will get another shot at the major league level.

Not only has Williams once again reached the major league level, but the left-handed hitting outfielder will start in left field and hit seventh in the team’s home opener Thursday against the Kansas City Royals. While Hamilton and Eloy Jiménez are both on the injured list, it’s mildly surprising to see Williams start over Andrew Vaughn, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.

The Phillies acquired Williams as part of the return in the July 2015 trade of Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers. That deal didn’t have the intended impact that the Phillies hoped for, and Williams is a big part of that.

Though he impressed in his first 83 games of his major league career, Williams never developed into the All-Star caliber outfielder that some believed he had the potential to be. Williams slashed .256/.324/.425 with 17 home runs, 50 RBIs and a .749 OPS in 2018, providing his best at-bats as a pinch hitter. However, after hitting .333 in 36 pinch-hit at-bats in 2018, Williams regressed to a .145 average off the bench in 55 at-bats in 2019, when he lost chances to start following the signings of Bryce Harper and Andrew McCutchen.

Williams didn’t play at the major league level at all in 2020, opening the season at the Phillies satellite squad and finishing the campaign in the same role for the Cincinnati Reds, who claimed him off of waivers in mid-August.

Though he’s still just 27, this could prove to be the final opportunity at the major league level for Williams.

Tito noted his short bench limited his moves Saturday [Bauers as defensive replacement at 1st would have reduced bench to Perez only]
So someone will come up from Columbus and Hentges will probably return.
the only reports I'm seen about the AAA semi=games was one in which Zimmer hit two homers, Miller a single, double and homer.

Time for Luplow to get more playing time in CF and/or the outfield in general. Not sure how but seems a natural since we don't have great alternatives.

He can field - first and foremost. But he can hit too and time to let him fly vs. righties.
