So far no luck with the announcer saying what his fastball is being clocked at. They don't do it that often.

Actually, the first things that grabbed me was that catcher Ice. They said he had 0 passed balls the entire season and saw a couple good blocks - then he also threw out a runner at 2nd. Nolan Jones also made a couple nice defensive plays.

It's 5-1 but really nothing hard hit, a couple misplays and a walk. Some seeing eye things. Adds up to, like you said earlier, a lot of traffic on the bases. Hasn't even struck out a guy through 4.

He is definitely not a soft tosser, can tell you that. But it's so ugly that it's hard to get a great read on his stuff.

As you know, it's hard to just judge velocity by watching tv but.....my impression was that is definitely was not upper nineties.

I'm going to throw out 92-94 mph because that would be my feeling/guess. But not his night.

Didn't see a curve ball, saw fastball and slider pretty much everything.

I goofed on Pastrano, no. 29 on BA list. He's 18, not 28!

My top 10 is much closer to Hillbilly's than BA's. How Johnson dropped 4 spots I can't fathom. Bracho fell from 19 to 20 on their list, too.
If they're not really going to reevaluate at midseason, I don't see why they should bother posting something "updated"

An old friend who is soon going to be a major contributor to our favorite patsy:

Willi Castro, SS, Tigers. Castro had three hits in five at-bats for Double-A Toledo. The infielder had a single and two doubles while driving in two runs and coming around to score twice as well. Castro recently had a six-game hit streak snapped by back-to-back hitless games

Our remaining prospects yesterday:

CLE AA Clement, Ernie SS 5 0 0 0 285
CLE AA Jones, Nolan 3B 2 1 0 0 290 2 BB (3)
CLE AAA Bradley, Bobby 1B 4 1 2 2 291 HR (25), BB (25)
CLE AAA Chang, Yu 3B 3 0 3 2 277 2B (9), 2 BB (15), CS (1) it was him and Willi Castro at the top of our SS collection; Tigers probably had their pick
CLE AAA Haase, Eric C 4 0 0 0 241
CLE AAA Johnson, Daniel RF 4 0 0 0 319 BB (21) he is not our no. 18 prospect
CLE HiA Benson, Will DH 3 2 2 0 194 BB (14) still drawing walks and maybe he's getting the avg up above 200 at his new level too?
CLE HiA Freeman, Tyler SS 3 0 0 0 350 BB (8)
CLE HiA Gonzalez, Oscar RF 4 0 0 0 321
CLE LoA Holmes, Quentin CF 5 1 1 0 187
CLE LoA Naylor, Bo PH 1 0 0 0 233
CLE MAJ Mercado, Oscar CF 3 1 0 0 281 BB (12)
CLE R Bracho, Aaron DH 4 1 1 1 271 HR (6) he is not our no. 20 prospect
CLE SS Delgado, Raynel 2B 2 0 0 0 270 BB (13)
CLE SS Rocchio, Brayan SS 4 0 0 0 230
CLE SS Rodriguez, Johnathan RF 1 0 1 1 219 BB (11)

another Top 100 prospect update from BA adding some 2019 draft picks. Other additions to the list include Valera at 93 [he entered at 100, fell back out and now I assume he's there to stay]. Among the biggest risers are N Jones +17, and among the biggest fallers, McKenzie -18. Our guys now rate at:

Jones 51
McKenzie 74
Freeman 84
Valera 93

Sheffield, by the way, is at 81. And if you're looking for Yankee prospects to add to a deal with Frazier, there's only one guy, who sounds useful in a season or two:

No. 70 Deivi Garcia Yankees RHP Age 20 5-9 163 [McKenzie weight, 9 inches shorter] Notes: ETA: 2020 Preseason rank: Unranked
Fastball: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Curveball: 60 | Control: 50

After cruising through four starts in the Florida State League, Garcia has thoroughly dominated his first elongated test at Double-A. He’s added a slider this season, and leads all minor league starters with nearly 15 strikeouts per nine innings.

2019 Midseason Top 50 Fantasy Prospects

Welcome to the post where I copy and paste…er…uh…I mean rerank the Top 50 prospects for fantasy baseball. I know I shouldn’t have to say this, but this is a fantasy prospect list – not a real one. Therefore ergo such and such, you get the drift. I’ll say this about my rankings approach – I tend to chunk it and don’t get too caught up in ranks that are close to one another. So if you want to debate #35 versus #36 I’m going to have to put you in a timeout where you can debate yourself. I’m sure you are all master debaters.

Anyhoo, I try not to let the first half of this season completely change the scouting reports we came in with at the beginning of the year. Then again, you do have to take this season into consideration, along with recent signings. Also, these are composite ranks averaged between myself and my five alternate personalities. My doctor says it’s healthy to include them in this process. It’s all an extremely complex algorithm that involves me, a bowl of cold spaghetti marinara, and a clean white wall. Oh, and one more thing…I don’t include players that I expect to exceed the rookie limits this year. That’s 130 at bats or 50 innings pitched for those keeping score. Not trying to waste your time on players that likely won’t be prospects in the fall. On to the list…
