Big-time debut for Panama in the Caribbean Series

The return of Panama to the Caribbean Baseball Series was great with a victory last night of 4 runs to 2, over the always favorite team of the Dominican Republic (Estrellas Orientales), in a game corresponding to Group B of the tournament.

Panama is host to the Caribbean series of 2019 and the Rod Carew stadium was the scene for Panama picking up their first series win in 59 years, since the last time they participated in this event in 1960.

Panama defend their patriotic colors and it was in a crucial seventh inning that the game was decided with two runs scored, with Rodrigo Orozco standing out.

With the game tied 2-2 Jonathan Gálvez was hit, went to second base by sacrifice and then on a base hit by Rodrigo Orozco put the scoreboard in favor of the Panamanians 3-2.

Panama extended the lead with an aggressive run by Orozco , who took advantage of Gerald Chin's infield hit for the 4-2 lead.

Andy Otero was the winner in relief while Manuel Corpas got the save retiring the last three batters .

It is important to note that the offense was also highlighted by Javier Guerra, who hit a home run.
