Ok, let me understand this:
We trade and get Donaldson,
assuming he will be 80%
and we move him to 3rd.
Rodriguez goes to 2nd and
Kipnis all of sudden is one of
stretches of hitting well and
we move him to CF. Granted
he played CF when we drafted
him. But are we ok having him
patrolling CF and forcing our
other LF and RF to cover more
ground because we just really
want that kind of weak outfield
defensively.

As I check back in, the score is 3-1 with 1 out in the 9th and Hand in for the save. Corey was out after 6 2/3. Perez got one out. a 1-2--3 inning for Allen and now Hand. The bullpen guys have added 4 K's to Corey's 10. In fact only one batter hit a fair ball against the relievers so far.

What I really like is checking the AL pitching leaders and finding categories, like ERA and strikeouts, where 4 of the top 10 are Indians. That certainly should be enough to make this a serious pennant contender. Adding a little more offense [Donaldson] and getting consistent relief [possible? Allen has to settle down; Perez has to stay reliable; I don't count on Miller, but perhaps Cimber could pitch as expected? Hand seems to be what we need] they still could be ultimate champs. I really feel disappointed that Bauer's had to miss all this time and despite his best efforts may not be able to come back. They'll have to rope him down to keep him out of action.

I'll try this one. First off, I don't think they "assume" anything. 80% or whatever. There is no question it's a gamble.

On the other side, this is Josh Donaldson we are talking about. Hell, if he is 80% even - being a RH bat - that guy is one scary middle of the lineup bat. Added to other scary bats that we have.

And that is why the gamble was made. And what did they give up? Very low risk here.

Bieber vs a Toronto RH rookie. Guyer surprisingly is in the lineup, Brantley rests. Lindor leads off again with his 32nd homer. I can't imagine anyone believed he would ever come anywhere near that much power. We were expecting a terrific fielder, a great attitude, a good baserunner, who could well but might not for a good average. The fielding, the attitude, the 20+ steals, the 284 average are all just about on target.
