9799I’m sworn to secrecy, UD. When at the MGM Grand, what happens in Detroit stays in Detroit.
But if you see Perez cut and Hanse & Yandy brought up then you might think something was up.

9800Thank you to all concerned in ridding us of McAllister. Please spare his Otero next.
Re: General Discussion
9801Like any good Indians outfielder, Naquin needed surgery for his hip issue and is "expected to be able to return to full baseball activities within 6 to 10 weeks"..
Let's see 6 weeks is Sept14. 10 weeks is October 12. Great, he'll return when there's no minor league teams playing for him to do rehab. So we can just stick in the starting lineup for the AL Championship Series and get him ready for next April.

Re: General Discussion
9802A long list of yawns:
Cody Anderson (elbow) has expanded his throwing progression out to over 100 feet.
Anderson had Tommy John surgery back in March of last year but has had numerous starts and stops on his rehab. It appears that he's starting to progress again but he wouldn't seem to be a very good bet to make it back this season.

Josh Tomlin (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
He's slated to go two innings in his first appearance. Tomlin shouldn't need too many appearances before rejoining the Indians' bullpen as a long man.

Lonnie Chisenhall (calf) has progressed to running on a treadmill.
He's also done some tee work and thrown on the field. Chisenhall isn't expected back before September as he rehabs a Grade 3 left calf strain.
Evan Marshall (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
Marshall has been on the shelf since mid-June with a bruised elbow. It seems likely that he'll be physically ready before the end of the month, but he might not be a given to be added to the big league roster.

Nick Goody (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday.
Goody has been out since early May with elbow inflammation and appears to finally be making progress. He'll hope to rejoin the Indians' bullpen at some point later this season.

9803Tomlin gave up 3 in 2 innings tonight in rehab game in Columbus. Just cut him already.
Merritt gave up 1 run in 4.2 innings. I cannot believe he passed through waivers without some small market team taking a flyer on him.

Re: General Discussion
9804We have traded George Kontos to Yankees for cash.
Rumor is 3 bucks but not sure.

Re: General Discussion
9805They'd reported that Merritt's not very fast ball was slower this year.
I know we DFA's Morimando while he as on the DL. Don't know if anyone picked him up.
I thought Kontos looked OK in his brief stay

Re: General Discussion
9806Andre Knott reports that Gomes is close to return. Since Bauer pitches tomorrow and Perez always catches him any way Tuesday will probably be the return day for Gomes. He can play now in a pinch. Last night he rehabbed in back till well into the game then came out in case something weird happened and was needed.
Re: General Discussion
9807we can survive that short a reliance on Perez. Of course given the chance to put the game away for the Tribe in the 1st inning today with 3 on and one out he grounds into a force at the plate. Lucky he didn't hit the ball hard enough for the expected inning ending double play
Re: General Discussion
9808I was only watching "on the radio" but given how he runs, maybe he DID hit it hard enough for the double play. Tommy seemed to think so.
Re: General Discussion
9809Perez is absolutely driving me crazy.
I just looked at his last 3 games.
He is 1 for 7
2 K (This is actually better than I thought. And only 1 of his 2 K's were on 3 pitches, which has happened a lot this year)
4 Groundouts. 2 of the groundouts were on the first pitch. Another was on the second.
And again, I'm not sure how I can find it out, but you would not believe how many times he has struck out on 3 pitches this year. Or grounded out or popped out on 1st pitch. It's like he is a pitcher who just wants to get it over with as soon as possible.
Someone should start telling him he's getting paid by the hour. Maybe he'll start becoming more selective.

Re: General Discussion
9810Yan Gomes (hamstring) did some running Monday.
Gomes is feeling much better and could return to action Tuesday. He's missing a third straight start Monday.
