8627Back to the future.
Callaway made Tito look good.
Willis is a step backwards.

Re: General Discussion
8630How will Willis get along with Trevor Bauer and his unorthodox prep routine?
Re: General Discussion
8631I'm really impressed that Santana has made himself such a good defender. I love his attitude: willing to try out at 3rd base; willing to play games in the outfield.
Re: General Discussion
8632The way I see this issue now JR is differently than before. At this point - if it ain't broke. Bauer has success to point to so why mess with it?J.R. wrote:How will Willis get along with Trevor Bauer and his unorthodox prep routine?
So I think it's now a non issue.

Re: General Discussion
8633I agree, so I hope Willis won't try to change anything.
From the article I posted in the other folder:
Callaway has the personality and ability to listen that makes him effective because he can find common ground with almost any type of pitcher. It's a gift.

Re: General Discussion
8634Disagree about Willis.
Bottom line - if Tito wants him that's all I need to know.

8635Congrats to Houston - this happening the year of the hurricane! Happy for those people there.

8636do we need a natural disaster in Cleveland to win the series? Would a 2 foot snowfall be good enough?

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- With the Houston Astros' victory Wednesday in Game 7 of the World Series, the clock has officially started on the 2017-18 MLB offseason.
Plenty of important dates relative to free agency and club rosters are now set, as well as a schedule for the release of regular season awards and honors for baseball's best.
Here is a look at the key dates of which Indians fans should be aware, including the announcement of Cy Young Awards and the dates when teams can negotiate with free agents. Broadcast information is included where available.
Nov. 2: As of 9 a.m. ET, all eligible players have become free agents. Players automatically become free agents once eligible and no longer have to file paperwork with the league.
Nov. 4: Most contract option decisions are due. Some contracts specify a different date. Usually earlier, not later.
Nov. 6: Baseball Writers' Association of America Awards finalists announced, including Manager of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player in each league. (MLB Network)
Nov. 6: Deadline for teams to make eligible free agents the $17.4 million qualifying offer. The qualifying offer is the average of the top 125 salaries in baseball. Only players who have been with their team the entire season can receive the qualifying offer. Jay Bruce is not eligible for the Indians.
Nov. 7: Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. (ESPN, 9 p.m. ET)
Nov. 7: The start of free agency. The five-day exclusive negotiating period ends at 12:01 a.m. the following Tuesday. Free agents are only allowed to talk to their former team prior to this date.
Nov. 9: Louisville Silver Sluggers (MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET)
Nov. 10: Wilson Defensive Players of the Year (MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET)
Nov. 13: Deadline for free agents to accept or reject the $17.4 million qualifying offer. Players who reject the qualifying offer are attached to draft-pick compensation. Other teams will have to forfeit their highest draft pick to sign the player while his former team receives a supplemental pick.
Nov. 13-16: General manager meetings in Orlando, Fla.
Nov. 13: Jackie Robinson Rookies of the Year announced. (MLB Network, 6
p.m. ET)
Nov. 14: Managers of the Year announced. (MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET)
Nov. 15: Cy Young Awards announced. (MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET)
Nov. 16: Most Valuable Players announced. (MLB Network, 6 p.m. ET)
Nov. 17: Esurance MLB Awards show. (MLB Network)
Nov. 17: Deadline for teams to add eligible prospects to the 40-man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Most college players drafted in 2014 and high school players drafted in 2013 are Rule 5 Draft eligible. Also international free agents signed in 2012. Any eligible players not on the 40-man roster can be selected in the Rule 5 Draft.
Dec. 1: Deadline for teams to tender their pre-arbitration and arbitration-eligible players contracts for the 2017 season. This is otherwise known as the non-tender deadline. Any players without multiyear contracts and fewer than six years of service time become free agents if they do not receive a contract offer. A whole new batch of free agents will hit the market on this date. Last year, the Indians non-tendered relief pitcher Jeff Manship and offered contracts to eight others, including Trevor Bauer, Danny Salazar and Lonnie Chisenhall.
Dec. 10-14: Winter meetings in Orlando, Fla.
Dec. 14: The Rule 5 Draft, which unofficially marks the end of the winter meetings. Players selected in the Rule 5 Draft must remain on their new team's active 25-man roster for the entire 2017 season, or be put on waivers and offered back to their former team. Last season, the Indians selected lefty reliever Holby Milner from the Phillies with the 15th pick in the first round. The Tribe lost five players in the draft, including Anthony Santander, Trevor Frank, Jon Fitzsimmons, Grant Sides and Nick Maronde.

8639Indians have picked up the option on Brantley.
Cleveland Indians @Indians
We've exercised our 2018 club options on Michael Brantley and Josh Tomlin.

Re: General Discussion
8640Never a doubt on picking up option. Tribe can not afford to give up assets to chase free agents that may or may not want to play in Cleveland.
