Yu Darvish - S - Rangers

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Rangers and Dodgers are at an impasse in talks regarding Yu Darvish.
The Dodgers have been the favorites for Darvish all along, but Heyman suggests that they are getting cold feet about the prospects required to pull off such a deal. Walker Buehler and Alex Verdugo are surely being discussed here. The Rangers are reportedly talking to other teams (including the Indians), but a compromise is still possible before Monday's deadline.

Yu Darvish - S - Rangers

Jim Bowden of MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM reports that the Rangers and Indians have talked about a "Yu Darvish-for-Francisco Mejia type deal."

If true, that would be a tremendous get for Texas. Mejia, widely considered the top catching prospect in the game, is batting .317/.367/.520 with 10 homers over 68 games this season with Double-A Akron. Darvish has been primarily linked to the Dodgers, but the Indians could jump ahead of the pack if they are truly willing to part with Mejia. It's worth

Addison Reed - R - Mets

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Indians are also in the mix for Mets reliever Addison Reed.

The Indians appear to be aiming to make a big splash at the trade deadline for the second straight year. The club has been connected to Rangers ace Yu Darvish, but they are working on parallel tracks depending on how talks go. Adding Reed would make a scary Cleveland bullpen even better. Reed has been mentioned most prominently with the Red Sox over the past day or so.

That Mejia rumor is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Antonetti is way too smart to trade a great young catching prospect for a few month rental. I don't believe it for a second.

Only way I see us getting in on Darvish or Gray is if the other team is willing to take quantity for quality. We already have a 6 man rotation cause they like all the guys so much they don't want to send one down. We going to add another to the mix? Not unless the other team is willing to take, say, Bauer and Clevinger. And even that is probably too much for a rental.

Hell, we have a couple guys in Columbus that deserves a shot soon too. Merritt and Morimando. We need to find a quantity for quality deal involving the young arms.

Tribe pushing hard for Britton. In mix for Darvish, but only if price comes down.

Since we missed out of Wilson and Reed I could really see us make a push for Britton. I sure would have liked the lefty Wilson, but Britton is an absolute stud closer. Lets us have a L-R set up punch with Miller-Allen. And won't need to use Shaw in as many innings, especially in crucial spots.

Gomes is hitting 220 and Perez 180. I just don't see us trading Mejia. I think he is a building block for future.

As I've been saying, we have players we can part with. We have some arms we can afford to trade. We have a few SS prospects we can afford to trade. We have an OF prospect or two we can afford to trade. We should be pushing to improve the team and make a WS run today. We have the pieces to do it. But we don't need to be trading Mejia. He is only prospect we have at a need position. And a position that is hard to find a stud.

They should be shopping Bauer, Clevinger, Merritt, Yandy, Gonzalez, Chang, Naquin or Allen ... these are good pieces. We can make a couple deals today and not hurt ourselves down the road.
