I watched the condensed Indian game and followed that one up with the Reds/Brewers game.

Big night for Jesus Aguilar. 3-5, 2 Runs (22), 4 RBI (25), single, RBI double (13), and a 3-run homer (7).

Heading into this evening's game, Aguilar's stats. Not bad for a part time player and pinch hitter.

Code: Select all

Year AB R H	2B 3B HR	RBI	SB AVG OBP OPS
2017 Stats	141	20	40	12 2 6 21 0	.284	.353	.877
He's hitting .346 against LHP, .340 as a pinch hitter, 7 doubles as starter, 6 doubles as a pinch hitter, 1 triple as a starter, 1 triple as a pinch hitter, 5 homers as a starter, and 2 homers as a pinch hitter.

With is 3 hits tonight, Aguilar raised his average to (.296).

Red Sox released 3B Jhonny Peralta.
Peralta signed a minor league deal with Boston on June 23 after getting released by the Cardinals on June 13. He went on to bat .200 with a .570 OPS in 41 plate appearances at Triple-A Pawtucket. St. Louis still owes the 35-year-old third baseman around $4 million.

Red Sox activated 3B Pablo Sandoval from the 10-day disabled list; designated him for assignment.
Sandoval batted just .237/.286/.360 in three seasons with Boston after signing a five-year, $95 million contract, and he played just 35 games the last two years due to injury. He's still owed roughly $50 million through 2019 when you include his 2020 buyout, but the Red Sox are willing to eat that money in order to turn the page. Boston will roll with Tzu-Wei Lin and Deven Marrero at third base for now, but they'll undoubtedly be in the market for a third baseman ahead of the trade deadline. Sandoval will catch on somewhere, but he would certainly appear to be a longshot to be a productive major leaguer again. He'll turn 31 next month.
