I mentioned a couple of weeks back that the best location for Salazar was the bullpen. That's where pitchers with 98 mph fast balls with no control can be useful facing a batter or two in situational spots. Maybe one day Salazar will learn to spot his fastball around the corners instead of serving up center cut pitches.
The ideal situation? "If we had a 10-run lead it would be nice to give him an inning," said Francona. "But that doesn't happen often."
That's about right.
