Well I just watched a replay of (most of) the game. Good grief, what a mess! Almost felt sorry for the A's. Almost.

Feeling sorry for myself, it looks as if the rearrangements in the NY-Penn league mean the Scrappers won't be coming to Vermont any more.

On Wednesday the Indians lost to Oakland’s 6-5 left-hander, Sean Manaea. On Sunday they’ll be facing another tall lefty in 6-7 Eric Skoglund. He’ll be making his second big league start for Kansas City after replacing injured Danny Duffy and throwing 6 1/3 scoreless inning against the Tigers on Tuesday to win his big league debut, 1-0.

The Indians are 9-11 against left-handed starters this season.

Team updates: The Indians are coming off a 4-4 homestand. In their last five games, the rotation went 4-1 with a 2.27 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings. Corey Kluber added a flourish to those numbers Thursday as he came off the disabled list and threw six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts in a 8-0 win over Oakland.

Overall, Indians pitchers struck out a franchise record 59 batters in the four-game series against the A's.

The Royals, who took two out of three during the Indians just completed homestand, have lost three of their last four games. They are 4-4 in their last eight games.
