If the Forum were not off limits yesterday, we could have jointly purchased a wedding gift for Ryan Merritt from his wedding registry. I'm sorry that the waffle iron has been taken already. It is interesting that he and his bride have chosen Napoli as their kitchen dishes pattern. Pretty basic tastes for now; meanwhile I see Kipnis has bought a $1.42 M home back in his home sububurs of Chicago. If Merritt stays in the majors a few years, he will be upgrading his waffle maker and toaster.

Charlie Sheen 1st World Series pitch

CLEVELAND (AP) -

Now that the Indians are in need of a good pitcher, could use Charlie Sheen. Or rather, a "Wild Thing".

Sheen, who played the character Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn in the movie "Major League", has offered to participate in the ceremonial first pitch at one of the games in the World Series

Shortly after the Indians won the American League pennant on Wednesday in Toronto, many fans expressed on social networks the possibility that Sheen participate in the festivities.

Sheen responded to requests Thursday on Twitter. He published a photo of himself impersonating Vaughn in a Cleveland uniform, and wrote " 'Major League' continues to give me gifts. If they call me, it would be an honor."

The actor has already appeared in the playoffs. He went to Dodger Stadium on Wednesday as the Chicago Cubs beat Los Angeles in the fourth game of the NLCS National League.

Released in 1989, "Major League" is a film that tells a fictional story, in which the Indians are crowned with a maverick group of players, including Vaughn, who has trouble finding the strike zone and heated with the song "Wild Thing ", released in 1966 by The Troggs.

In real life, the Indians have overcome a series of injuries to their starting rotation to be crowned in the Central Division of the American. Then they eliminated Boston and Toronto.

And some players have taken advantage of Cleveland passages from "Major League" for inspiration.

Slugger Mike Napoli and Jason Kipnis built a sanctuary in a space between their lockers, as in the film. The film shows the character Pedro Cerrano practices voodoo and pray to an idol called "Jobu" to allow him to hit the curves.

As Cerrano, Napoli and Kipnis have created their own "Jobu" which leave offerings, including bottles of rum and cigars, asking out of slumps at the plate.

Charlie Sheen does come with some baggage....but here is a possible solution to use him and not look bad in some peoples eyes:

Have the ceremonial first pitch be thrown by a former Tribe historical player or coach/manager, preferably a pitcher if one is still available. Then after the pitch announce the following "Coming in to relieve (Fill in the blank), Ricky Vaughn....He comes in with glasses, the haircut, and the old uni to the blasting of WILD THING over the PA system. The crowd joins in with the singing chanting of Wild Thing, you make my heart sing. Sheen throws the ball hard and high over the catchers head.....crowd goes wild. A great opening to the series!

Salazar pitched his simulated game today and afterwards said he felt "strong" and "like he does when he's 100%".

Don't f*ck with a winning streak. Put Salazar on the roster but keep him on the bench unless absolutely necessary.

someone suggested Merritt and Salazar as piggyback starter-reliever pairing in an Ask Hoynesie column. That could make sense, as noted the two of them have very contrasting pitching skills.

As far as the sports world is concerned this series is all about the Cubs. Cleveland a minor afterthought. No one knows anything about the team besides Kluber and Miller.

Tito announced his starters for first 3 games. Kluber-Bauer-Tomlin. Personally, I would start Tomlin over Bauer in Game 2. Gives Bauer 2 extra days of healing before he pitches, and Tomlin has been more effective than him the last several weeks anyway, so I'd rather him go in a game 6.

If Salazar is 100% not only would I start him I would start him the 3rd game so if it goes 7 he would be available for that game.

I'm not talking about the Salazar that returned from injury the second half and got smacked around. But the first half Salazar that was 100% and dominating at times. If he is 100% get him out there.

It appears that they want Tomlin in game 3 because of his offensive skills: a former college shortstop his major league stats are 6 hits in 12 at bats. Bauer meanwhile says he couldn't little league pitchers, so not likely to hit major leaguers.

Dont worry about that. That is just the national media trying to jink this team. I hope that Wedge is on his cruise right about now and as far away from the team as possible. Maybe he is with his partner Shapiro.

Indeed I was hoping that they could get Joey Belle to throw out the first pitch. The real anti wedgeeee.

Unfortunately Manny cant because he is working for the enemy and has made them better hitters but of course we never needed him anyway.

Civ, I had not heard that explanation but it makes sense. If I were an AL manager not sure I would make my plans based on the offensive prowess of any of my pitchers but I guess that does sound reasonable.
