Two weeks after splitting a pair of games in Cleveland, the first-place Indians and Nationals will get together for two more in Washington.

In the first game on Tuesday, the Nationals will send out of the hottest pitchers in the National League. Washington ace Max Scherzer has been near-unhittable since June 1, posting a 1.84 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings during that time. He has gone at least six innings in every start since May 11 and at least seven innings in each of his past five outings.

Indians starter Trevor Bauer has slumped lately, allowing 22 earned runs in 23 2/3 innings over his past five starts. He's coming off an outing in which he lasted a season-low 2 2/3 innings and gave up a season-high seven earned runs against the Twins.

HMM!

Geez, hate that Bauer vs Scherzer matchup. Yuck.

All that stuff a couple weeks back about Ichiro's total hits not being worthy of Pete Rose was crap. Of course it shouldn't count as Rose's does.

That sad:

Ichiro Suzuki is 4th player to record 3,000 hits & win 10 Gold Gloves (Al Kaline, Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente).

OK, well, that's pretty damn good company.

I heard today that Ichiro came to the US when he was 27 to play in MLB. He now has 3000 hits. So, if he had played in MLB all along, say since his early 20s, how many hits would he have had?? Do the math. A damn lot, that's for sure.

For the record, I've always liked Davis. I hated the signings of Napoli, Uribe, and Byrd. I just wouldn't call the signing of Davis gold. I wish he was our 4th OF'er. A guy whose game is speed you would ideally like to see get on base alot, not at a .317 clip. But I like Davis, and he's shown more pop that I expected.

MLBTV's "free" game tonight is the Indians vs Nats.

Bauer is going to have to pitch every inning like it's sudden death OT.

Scherzer is in the zone, first mistake loses the game, we've already made an error, and there's a baserunner on Bauer.

Got out of it, but I sure hope we get a hit or a walk soon.
