I look at it this way. Those 3 guys were one year contract fliers. Napoli, well, a no brainer. Uribe also a no brainer, you throw him back. And Rajai Davis.

I'll take that kind of success rate on 1 year fliers.

I think you have a habit of popping in here when a guy has a good day and say thank God we picked him up! When on the whole, every day, just average or below average players.

I have to admit, I am beginning to think I was wrong on Napoli. I keep waiting for him to go on another one of his infamous 0 for 20 stretches with 16 K. But instead he keeps hitting. But as of today, he's the only pick up I'm happy about.

I'm very familiar with Davis from his time in Detroit. He is a great guy and a great teammate. But look, we have guys in AAA right now that could easily surpass his actual performance. I'd rather see Naquin playing every day in CF and Yandy brought up for LF. His production would be easily replaced. But he is a great guy in the clubhouse though.

Problem is when you pick up veterans Tito will keep playing them instead of bringing up youngsters with an actual future.

Since your wisecrack about sabermetrics, I thought I'd look up Davis while I was looking up Lindor. (I knew Lindor's was #2 in MLB. Just like I knew Davis would not be good)

Davis is sitting at 0.7

That ranks him 66th among MLB OF'ers.

Telling Chisenhall he's not a 3rd baseman.

Telling Ramirez he's not a shortstop.

followed closely by telling Uribe he is not an Indian.

Tigers are winning AGAIN! It's evident that they will win out, or maybe lose only 2 or 3 games the rest of the season.

I still think Yankees first run would not have scored if our CF played 10 feet deeper. And there was also one in left. Why are bloop singles more important than over the head doubles and triples. At least let them play situationally.

In addition, Texeira made the play of the game at 1B which totally killed a rally.

Bottom line, Carrasco pitched fine, but Tanaka pitched better holding the offense down. It happens. Tigers lose as well in a similar way, vs a well pitched game.

Teams have tons and tons of data on each player. Spray charts. Defense is positioned for each hitter.

While Lindor continues to get all the hype, Ramirez continues his steady work. Some nice stuff going on between Lindor and Ramirez, offensively speaking, that is.
Both playing excellent defense.

Couple of nice candidates for Indian's MVP this year. Have to include Napoli. Napoli was one the few 1-year players I didn't mind signing. Another was Davis. There were three in all but I forgot who the 3rd player was. Napoli has far exceeded my expectation. Ramirez has done an excellent job subbing for Brantley,

It's not time to hit the panic button yet, but the middle relief corp is a concern. I expect the starting rotation to bounce back. I have to admit that I'm worried about bridging that gap between the sixth and eighth innings.

If we do nothing else the rest of the season, I am still concerned about that much needed power hitter. I hope the front office has an eye out. I still wouldn't mind a trade for Soler.
