ANOTHER crappy pitching performance tonight!
I'm going to tomorrow's game. I'm afraid it might the last time the Tribe is in first place this year.
Even Tito is giving up. Trying to get thrown out of the game.

16848Well, this is more or less of what I expected from the Twins. I can't believe their record is as bad as it is.

16849It's one thing to be good but the Tigers are also lucky tonight. Tigers getting all the calls so far. Duck snort double to right plates a run. Tigers 1 Sox 0. The Sox are doing zero against Fullmer.

16851What a revolting development this second half has been! We just hit the low point of the season when the Twins can average 10 runs a game against this vaunted pitching staff

16852And we have to play the Skankees next. We haven't done well vs. the East.
Then to DC to face the Nationals!
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted....

Re: GameTime!™
16853Tito and Callaway both got tossed at the same time. CHiz made a play that initially to me looked like a trap. Trap to 1st base ump as well. Tito asks for a review and while waiting they showed it on the big screen. In slow motion it appeared that ball didn't hit the grass but actually hit the small finger part of the glove and bounced into the pocket. Supposedly, Tito and Callaway were arguing about Bauer getting squeezed all evening. and got tossed for arguing balls and strikes. However looking at the discussion, Tito kept pointing to the score board. Callaway and 1B ump were jawing and the ump looked like he was going after Callaway but was restrained. Watch the replay that I am sure will show up somewhere.
Re: GameTime!™
16856Same thing was going on in the sox and tiger game last night. Fullmer had a wider strike zone than did Sale.

16857Tribe wins. Tigers are making things interesting. After trailing 6-1, they score once in the seventh, and another run in the 8th with 1 out on Cabrera's 25th.

Re: GameTime!™
16858More on today's game. Managed to get ahead with bombs by Kip and then Santana (3 run).
Probably the most interesting thing was the use of Miller to get the last out of the 6th! Score was 4-2 at the time, crucial point.
Then he pitched the 7th and there was no one up going into the 8th, so he was going to return.
Tribe then blew the score up from 4-2 to 7-2 though, so they could then bring in Shaw and Merritt to mop it up at that point..
So, in retrospect, Tito brought Miller in early to leverage him during a crucial point in the game.
Shit, sabermatricians are going to love that.

16859We gain back a game. Tigers finally lose one and now trail the tribe by 3 games.

Re: GameTime!™
16860Just to add, I did watch the press conference with Tito after the game and he said that his use of Miller surely will not be the usual.
But in this situation said he saw no reason to wait.
Big game. Miller was rested. Etc
Miller mowed down guys who had been killing them, Mauer and Kepler on strikeouts. Nasty!
Tito has a new toy
