Paul Hoynes @hoynsie
Heard Indians determined to get hitter by deadline. We shall see.

.

Kinda think we might land Beltran or Pearce before deadline in 2+ hours. My money would be on Pearce. He can play all 4 corner positions and has been an underrated hitter last few years. Kind of guy I think Tito would love.

I personally would just bring up Yandy and save the prospects cause he can do same thing defensively. Get on base as much if not more, but less power. But I just picture Tito whispering in the brass' ear and wanting this vet.

It's still hard to see why Yandy was not brought up at all star break to audition before the deadline. But what's past is past. Pearce sounds like a better choice than Beltran to me IF he doesn't cost us too much. I would love to keep Mejia and Chang. Allen is a good ball player but we don't need him. Ditto Armstrong. And I'd be happy to peddle Plutko or Merritt or Morimando. Prospects ranked in the 10-20 range among our remaining Top 30 would be all I'd like to see dealt, and based on some of the other packages that have been traded for lesser talents than Miller I hope we can clinch a deal with out sacrificing any more Lynchburg stars.

Dodgers just acquired Reddick from A's and rumor is they may be shopping Puig now.

His numbers are down this year but I'd be interested. Still only 25, right handed bat. Signed for 6 mill per for 2 more years after this year, then only available for arbitration. I think he's a young affordable right handed power bat that will bounce back from his slow start. He's a bit of a fruitcake but young foreigner, he'll grow out of it.

As far as Beltran & Pearce, I would not trade Zimmer, Bradley, F.Mejia, Clevinger, Diaz, or McKenzie.

That may seem like alot but that leaves alot of talented youngsters left on table. Aiken, Gonzalez, Chang, Allen, and a host of upper level pitchers. Anderson, Plutko, Morimando, etc. We could still get a deal for that kind of guy. Beltran is just so old and pricey. He is hitting snot out of ball this year but still could not see giving up more than that caliber prospect.

I am oK with anyone on your list but Chang. I can see him as a future 3rd baseman or LF with power. I offered a package in Minor Matters that sounds similar to yours, I think. This is already the best team in the AL and if Mr. Brantley were coming back we'd be in final position for the playoff drive. But he's not so I'll go for one deal without sacrificing the house.
