I don't think even you would have expected him to be used in the 5 role in the batting order! Or to be the Indians' most-days left fielder. He's been a very nice addition.
In fact we could find ourselves with a team full of shortstops in a few years, with Eric Gonzalez, Yu-Chiang Chang and Willi Castro all very promising talents who could wind up at 2nd, or 3rd, or left, or right fields. That's a lot better than having to try to convert a catcher to a 3rd baseman or a 1st baseman to an outfielder.
Re: GameTime!™
16427Not at #5 Civ but certainly #1,#2, or #9.
How about signing a free agent like Todd Frazier instead of making conversions Todd hit #17 today (38) rbis. Not too shabby for a free agent. All it would have cost was some cash. Maybe we could have signed him for one year deal ???

16428Tribe wins 5-4 in the 11th. Cody blew the save in the 9th. And some new guy one facing one batter. Sorry for lack of details but GF keeps flipping to Roots.
Re: GameTime!™
16429Gorzelany the newest LH in the bullpen got the out and the win. Gomes with a rare hit for the GWRBI
Re: GameTime!™
16432Lindor is a huge difference in this team. #3 hitter, stud fielder. Emotional leader. What a great personality.

Re: GameTime!™
16433The forgotten man during this run has been Jose. He's been putting up some nasty numbers so far. Can he keep it up for an entire season? Lindor's been getting all the press but Jose has been hanging in there with better numbers.

Re: GameTime!™
16435Maybe! Just a quick check, Jose has the better walks to strikeouts ratio, leads in average, slugging, obp, and ops. Gotta admit he has been a pleasant surprise.

16436Defensively, only 1 error. Don't know if it was playing third or left field. I think he misplayed a ball off the wall.

Re: GameTime!™
16437Pleasant surprise? Really big surprise. Last season he could barely hit the ball over the infielder's heads. This year he's lining balls off the wall. Maybe he's clean...maybe not. Just night and day between last season and this one.
Re: GameTime!™
16438What a fantastic defense gem turned in from Chisenhall. Played a ball off the wall perfectly and threw the hitter out at 2nd.
Re: GameTime!™
16439Jose might be on the juice but he could always hit a little and Uribe mentoring him has helped a lot. JMHO
Re: GameTime!™
16440Jose's error was left field and it was on a ball hit right at him. Base hit but he misplayed it ( hand cuffed him) Question, if Brantley was in left would Jose still have the season that he is having? Also would Almonte still be in CF?
