Mike Clevinger - S - Indians

Mike Clevinger will be called up from Triple-A Columbus to make his major league debut against the Reds on Wednesday.
Acquired from the Angels in the Vinnie Pestano deal in 2014, Clevinger was very impressive in Double-A last season and has posted a 3.03 ERA and 36/17 K/BB ratio in 35 2/3 innings over his first seven starts in Triple-A this year.

Can we play the Reds and Tigers the rest of the year?

How can you leave a pitcher in that issues 4 bases loaded walks in a row? Got to be the record by far.

Clevinger pitched much better than his final line shows. He gave the Tribe 5 great innings tonight. Wheels fell off in the 6th, and relief didn't help. But overall I really liked what I saw.

He had 4 pitches. 94 MPH fastball with good movement, changeup which didn't have much change of speed, 88. But his slider and slow curve (84 and 74 respectively) made up for it.

I'd steer clear of the change. Not enough change of speed. It was belted twice tonight. But liked his other stuff.

Sure looked a lot better than Cody Anderson, although that isn't saying much.

I am still liking this pickup. 9 steals is something this team NEVER has.


Rajai Davis - OF - Indians

Rajai Davis went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs, including the game-tying homer in the ninth inning, against the Reds on Wednesday.
Davis enjoyed a huge night at the plate, going deep twice and swiping his ninth bag of the year. He's already halfway to his career-high for homers in a season and his nine stolen bases ranks fourth in Major League Baseball.

It's been a productive couple months for the 35-year-old speedster. Davis now has a .250/.311/.420 slash line in 122 plate appearances.

Uribe is the only non productive member of the off season acquisitions. The other three, Byrd, Davis, Napoli have all provided that right handed pop we have been looking for combined for 14 HR and 60 RBI. Pushing those numbers over a year will produce 70 HR and 263 RBI. Not bad for old guys.

I can sense a Giovani appearance as soon as he is healthy and hitting again.

You could just see the frustration building in Bauer last night.

Boston's hitters are so good! They were patient, just waiting for Bauer to get frustrated and make a mistake. When he did, they hit it.

Just drove him bonkers, and that's Bauer's weakness. He's fine when rolling, but when challenged he can lose his cool.

(All that said, Boston's offense this year does that to a LOT of starting pitchers)

Talk about streaks....

Napoli has a beauty going.

He struck out in his last AB Friday night.

He struck out 4 times in 4 ABs yesterday.

In today's game, he has 3Ks in 3 ABs.

So Napoli has 8 Ks in a row .....and counting?

The streak is over. Napoli lines out to left. Still 8 Ks in a row is a sign the end might be near.

He was done last year. Indians just not smart enough to realize it.

He is 0-18 his last 4 games, no walks, 11 K's.

Clevinger missed his spot on a 95 MPH heater and Todd Frazier made him pay by extending his league leading HR total.

Then Napoli finally snaps out of funk by hitting one over LF wall himself.
