I've mentioned the story before but worth mentioning again. Tom Seaver said he always chose one player in the opposing lineup that he was not going to let beat him, and never gave him a pitch to hit. Worked for him, he's a hall of famer. He's not the only one either. This line of thinking goes way back.

How come Atchison came off the DL? I thought he was a perfect fit there.
I thought he got by with smoke and mirrors last season.

Hey, good season, but probably burned him out as well. Move on.

Somehow I ran into another tribe fan that came into my store...guy was excited about Lindor.

I'm like....Great, the kid can hit and get on base...we still don't have anyone to hit him IN once he's on base.

That and we keep pitching to that guy who I won't even name....for some reason known only to the

This really doesn't sound like a bad lineup, and its production has been about major league average. Getting Swisher out of the way doesn't hurt

1. Kipnis. An all-star except he's not on Kansas City
2. Lindor In theory he's the perfect no. 2 man in the order
3. Brantly. Not quite at last year's levels, but OPS around 900
4. Santana Power hitter, gets on base, too streaky
5. Gomez. Getting close to last year's solid offensive pace
6. Moss. Good power hitter
7. Murphy/Raburn. Especially good when pinch hitting for each other
8. Urshela. Offensive potential uncertain
9. Bourn. Doing well at the bottom of the order. A second leadoff hitter.

Bench: Aviles, about as good as they get as a super-utility man
Perez, not a cipher on offense.
Walters, not much more than a cipher, but Ramirez will probably be back to spell him soon

I like the lineup as well (with Moss batting 5th vs. righties).

What they really need at this point is for Santana and Brantley (back injury?) to hit closer to their capability. Gomes as well of course.

If that happens, with the rotation as good as they are, I am optimistic about a fun rest of the season.

Oh, and offensively, the team's better off with Murphy in LF and Brantley in center.
