Re: GameTime!™
15122I wanted to see him finish too. He tied Feller for most K's in a 9 inning game. Was 1 away from Tiant's record 19, in a 10 inning game.
.
@matthewpouliot: If Kluber is done, it's the highest Game Score (98) in an eight-inning outing since at least 1914 and probably ever.
.
Game Score is a metric devised by Bill James to determine the strength of a pitcher in any particular baseball game. To determine a starting pitcher's game score:
Start with 50 points.
Add one point for each out recorded, so three points for every complete inning pitched.
Add two points for each inning completed after the fourth.
Add one point for each strikeout.
Subtract two points for each hit allowed.
Subtract four points for each earned run allowed.
Subtract two points for each unearned run allowed.
Subtract one point for each walk.

Re: GameTime!™
15123Historic performance by Kluber. Should have been allowed to at least start the 9th.
Re: GameTime!™
15124Mayhap that was the shot in the arm this team needed.
Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

15125Baseball Tonight @BBTN
Corey Kluber had 18 strikeouts and didn't walk a batter, the 5th pitcher to do that in a game since 1900.

Re: GameTime!™
15126More I think about it the more I hate it that they didn't send Kluber out for the 9th. His pitch count wasn't that bad. The major league record for K's in a 9 inning game is 20. Should have let him have a go. Not like we're in a pennant race.
Re: GameTime!™
15127Tito said in his PC that "Millsie" knew what he was doing when he decided to take Corey out, and he agreed with the decision. "You have to manage with your head, not your heart."
He said if Kluber had got in trouble, and put some men on base, it would have been tougher on Allen.
Of course, Mills was calling the shots after Tito got ejected.

15130Yeah, I checked out Twitter after the game and the vast majority there seemed to agree too.

Re: GameTime!™
15132Bauer keeps it going. Through 5 innings he's not been as efficient as Kluber, 74 pitchers, walked 2 and allowed 3 hits, but has kept the Cards off the board and has whiffed 6. [Don't forget Salazar's last appearance: 7 innings, 1 hit, no walks, 11 strikeouts] With a weak offense, a woeful defense and unreliable bullpen, this team probably won't get back into contention but the rotation still has the quality to excel.
Re: GameTime!™
151333 up three down for Cards in the 6th, two more on strikes, that makes 8 for Bauer.
Of course the Indians haven't scored either, going 0-5 with RISP. A Bourn one-out triple back in the 2nd was wasted.
"Heart of the Order" in the Tribe 6th: Brantley [hasn't had a chance to leave any one on base today, achieved a lofty LOB total of 11 yesterday!], followed by Moss [hitting 231, but does have 5 homers and an ops of 726 which is only poor, not awful] and No. 5 man Chisenhall [hitting 216 with an OPS of 627 which is indeed awful; and he's a lousy defender too]

15134Brantley Homers! Tribe leads. With our starting pitching one run's all it takes. Well, let's get some more anyway.
