Tyler Holt - OF - Indians

Indians recalled OF Tyler Holt from Triple-A Columbus.
Holt was off to a .328/.438/.393 start at Columbus. He'll back up at all three outfield spots.

T.J. House - S - Indians

Indians placed LHP T.J. House on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation.
The ailment helps explain House's drop in velocity and results in the early going this season. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be sidelined, but it appears he at least doesn't have any structural issues with the shoulder. Zach McAllister, Bruce Chen and Shaun Marcum are options to take his spot in the rotation.

Should be interesting:

The Indians will need a starter for Saturday's affair against the Twins at Progressive Field. Danny Salazar, Carlos Carrasco and Corey Kluber are slated to start the three games in Kansas City.

Trevor Bauer can pitch Friday against Minnesota on regular rest. With TJ House sidelined because of shoulder inflammation -- he wasn't effective to begin with, as he owns a 13.15 ERA in four starts -- the Indians will likely need to make a move to add a starting pitcher.

Zach McAllister seems to have found his niche in the bullpen, as he has logged a 1.93 ERA in 14 innings of relief.

Bruce Chen (2-1, 1.74 ERA, 0.71 WHIP) and Shaun Marcum (3-0, 2.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) have excelled at Triple-A Columbus. Neither is on the 40-man roster.

I vote for Marcum too. But I'm surprised Chen is doing so well at Columbus - and he is lefty - so it's probably a tossup.

Should the Tribe be interested in a catcher option to help while Gomes is out, and possibly beyond?

Jarrod Saltalamacchia - C - Marlins

Marlins released C Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

This confirms a report from CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. The Marlins expressed optimism for finding a trade partner after they designated Saltalamacchia for assignment last week, but nothing has materialized.

This means that the Marlins will be responsible for the remainder of his three-year, $21 million contract and he'll be free to sign with another club at the major league minimum.

He should have no shortage of suitors as a free agent. The Royals, Rays, and Diamondbacks are among the teams who have been mentioned as possibilities.

He became the first player in major league history to beat a team (Orioles) with 7 different teams. (Indians, ChiSox, Angels, BoSox, Yanks, A's and now Mets)
That's pretty cool! I remember when I first heard about him as the "next hot thing" discovered in winter instructional league. That had to be nearly 25 years ago--- or was it less? Was Bartolo of those guys who added a few years when his true birthdate was discovered?
