Yeah he pissed me off too, though it is nice when he does something good.

Anybody else think Kipnis has come down a rung or two? Does not seem to have the range he used to have and takes a lot of pitches that are strikes.

I always thought he was the next Dustin Pedroia or better but now I wonder.

Maybe just an extended slump, but if so I sure hope he comes out of it. Only change I really notice is that when at bat he does not hold the bat as horizontally as he once did before setting up for the pitch. Pitchers make him wait more also before delivery.

Bauer looks better every time out. Francona is letting him pitch deep into games. He's still only 23 and I think he has every chance to be the top notch pitcher he was forecast to be when he was first drafted by the Diamondbacks [who have a great ability to dump pitchers before they develop]

Well, it will be very difficult to do but this team has to come away from Detroit with at least 3 wins to get back on the road to recovery. I was hoping to be 5 or less games back at the break. Without 3 wins in Detroit, 7 1/2 games will a difficult mountain to climb.

Let's hope that the break rejuvenates a few of our key guys, most notably Santana and Swisher.

You prefer the work Raburn is doing to Santana? Same question re Kipnis? Santana is far from the least achieving on this team. OPS stays over 700 based on double digit homers and lots of walks. I'd like to see better but if everyone had at least his OPS of 737 we'd probably be in first place

In fact Carlos' 63 walks lead the league. Forget the old-fashioned batting average measure, no one measures a hitter by that anymore, his On Base Pct is 349, slugging avg 388. Neither is outstanding and are down from his past performance but nor are they comparable with some of the far worse teammates.

On base pct.

Chisenhall 392; Brantley 382; Santana 349; Kipnis 332; Bourn 316; Cabrera 312; Gomes 306; Murphy 305; Aviles 288; Swisher 288; Raburn 248

Slugging:

Brantley 519; Chisenhall 515; Gomes 436; Cabrera 393; Santana 388; Bourn 379; Murphy 366; Aviles 360; Swisher 348; Aviles 360.

And since the 1st of June, Santana's On Base Pct is 382, and his Slugging Pct is 512.

Is this enough Joe for you to lay off Santana?

Joe will never lay off because someone pointed out to him that he was wrong about what he was posting about Santana. Ever since then he continues to rag on him rather then admit he was wrong.

Really nothing new......

Roughly coinciding with his move OFF 3B.

No question he is down overall this year, but there certainly are indications that he can return to his usual quality norm.

Still, overall, the Tribe is lucky to be at .500 IMO. The number of guys who have underachieved outnumbers the overachievers by quite a large margin.

Thank goodness for Brantley and Kluber. Chisenhall to a lesser extent and for sure Cody Allen.
