The Angels have signed infielder Andy Marte to a minor league deal, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the L.A. Times (Twitter link). Marte, 29, once ranked as a one of the game's top 10 prospects, according to Baseball America, and was hitting .301/.367/.526 with 19 homers in 96 games for the Atlantic League's York Revolution.

BA's All Prospec t Team for July includes:

RHP Danny Salazar • Indians
Triple-A Columbus (International)

Don’t judge Salazar too harshly for his low innings total in July. Not included here is his lone big league start, in which he allowed one run on two hits to the Blue Jays, striking out seven in 6 1/3 innings. American League opponents will see plenty more of Salazar’s deadly three-pitch mix—including 94-96 mph heat—down the stretch.

Carolina League ERA leader Cody Anderson - 2.34 -with another fine start. He's also 3rd in strikeouts. He's 9-4 on a lousy team. 7 3-hit shutout innings, 1 walk, 5 stikeouts. May be our only starter prospect between AAA and short season. Perhaps teammate Shawn Morimando is, too.

Boxes Friday:

Good start from Caleb Hamrick, 19 year old RH for Mahoning Valley. First 2 starts were excellent: 10 innings, 1 ER. Then 6 stinkers: 28 IP, 20 ER. Now 2 good ones: 10 IP, 2 ER.
Good Lake County debut for LH reliever Anderson Polanco 2 1/3-1-1-0-6
OK relief in AAA: Pestano 1-2-0-0-0-1; Hagadone better line 1-1-0-0-2. In AA: Armstrong 2 shutout.

Some offensive good nights:
MV: Nellie Rodriguez 2 hits, 311, but his power has dwindled.
Carolina:Naquin 2 doubles, that's 27 on the year. Bryson Myles has been red hot, 3 hits, he tops 300.
Akron: Ramirez and Rodriguez and Aguillar 2 hits apiece. Lindor has been out a few days; why?
