Re: GameTime!™
11957Apparently at one stretch eight consecutive Miami batter outs were by strikeout. (I have been listening but only half paying attention.)
Re: GameTime!™
11958I guess that's 590 now as he grounded out to 3rd. Perez with an easy save this time and the Tribe records yet another shutout.
Re: GameTime!™
11959This is in contrast to a previous week ... This weekend the Tribe was outscored by an average of 2 runs per game, but improved their record nonetheless with today's win.
Re: GameTime!™
11960Looking through the PBP, it appears Kazmir's last four outs were by strikeouts. Then Shaw fanned three while putting 2 on base. And Smith gave the 8th in a row with his first out
Re: GameTime!™
11962Yeah that's how I heard it. Also, some humor from the Miami Radio team ... " ... and one inning pitched by Joe Smith, if that IS his real name ..." or some such.
Re: GameTime!™
11963That is one awful lineup that the Marlins put out on the field. Obviously they've discovered one great young pitcher in Fernandez, but its not quite time for them to bust up the team again this winter.
Re: GameTime!™
11964They are bringing up Salazar to pitch against the Tigers Wednesday in place of Ubaldo.
That'll be interesting.
Todays win makes that....9 of the last 10? 15th shutout.
Best way to win a game is not let the other team score any points.
Time to go to Detroit and take over 1st place.

Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
Re: GameTime!™
11965If we're going to stay up there with Detroit, we're doing to have to prevail in this series. If Tigers again get the best of su, we still would have the wild card crapshoot to fall back on.
Tigers did finish up on top again today so they maintain their margin.

11966Who are these guys!!!
Just another freakin' shutout.
Anybody want to research what the Indians' season record is for shutouts?

Re: GameTime!™
11968Cleveland to its Major League-leading 15th shutout of the season. It also represents the most shutouts in a single season for the Indians since they spun 17 in 1976.
Re: GameTime!™
11969The win improved Cleveland's record to 34-14 this season against teams with a sub-.500 record.
Re: GameTime!™
11970If anyone wants to waste a lot of time, here is access to all game results from 1901 so you can count the shutouts manually Based on the above, you don't have to look after 1976 to try to find the shutout record.
