Chad Billingsley worked three scoreless, but Dodgers fall to Indians

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Carlos Carrasco pitched two scoreless innings and combined with four relievers on a two-hitter, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 2-1 win Tuesday over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley, projected as the No. 2 or No. 3 starter for first-year manager Don Mattingly, worked three scoreless innings. He nearly gave up a run, but the Dodgers threw out Indians catcher Carlos Santana trying to score on an error by left fielder Tony Gwynn Jr. in the first.

Santana was scolded after the play by Cleveland manager Manny Acta, who was upset that he slid headfirst. Santana sustained a season-ending knee injury last season while blocking a runner at the plate in Boston.

Jerry Sands homered for the Dodgers.

PHOENIX -- Jai Miller stole three bases and scored a key run, helping the Oakland Athletics to a 4-3 win over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday.

Cleveland starter Justin Masterson struggled with his control, walking three in two innings. A's pitcher Bobby Cramer threw two quick shutout innings.

Michael Taylor scored on Kurt Suzuki's two-out hit in the sixth. Oakland scored the first two runs of the game when Hideki Matsui grounded into a bases-loaded double play and Kevin Kouzmanoff singled in a second run in their half of the first inning.

Cleveland tied it in the top of the fourth. Matt LaPorta doubled down the left-field line off reliever Josh Outman, then scored on Travis Buck's single. Buck scored on a single by Paul Phillips.

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- AL Rookie of the Year Neftali Feliz pitched two scoreless innings in his bid to become part of the Texas rotation, and a Rangers split squad beat the Cleveland Indians 11-9 Thursday.

Feliz, who posted 40 saves last season for the AL champions, is getting a chance to start this year. He allowed two hits, walked one, hit a batter and threw 19 of his 36 pitches for strikes.

Feliz is among several pitchers in the mix for the last three spots in the Texas rotation.
Chris Davis won it with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth. Ian Kinsler hit a leadoff shot, his third home run for Texas this spring.

Matt LaPorta had a pinch-hit grand slam for the Indians.

Today's game is being broadcast on delay. Some minor leaguer starts for the WhiteSox. Everyone gets a hit among the first 6 hitters except LaPorta who hit into a 3-on double play. Weglarz with a win blown homer. Jason Nix with his first hit of the spring, a solid double.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Kelly Johnson had three hits and scored twice while wearing a teammates borrowed uniform, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 16-5 victory Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians.

Johnson forgot to pack his jersey and used right-hander Brian Sweeney's No. 37. The second baseman may want to keep it after he raised his spring average to .500 in seven games.

Chris Young had a two-run homer and four RBIs for Arizona, which totaled 22 hits.

Indians starter Fausto Carmona gave up seven hits and six runs over three innings, including back-to-back homers by Young and Stephen Drew in a four-run second. The Indians also allowed 16 runs on Monday to the White Sox.

Arizona starter Daniel Hudson struck out four over three innings, allowing one run.

Rookie Lonnie Chisenhall had four hits and Shin-Soo Choo a pair of RBI singles for Cleveland, which has allowed 32 runs in its last two games.
