Back when this group showed more sense--not coincidentally, back when we had regular contribution from females--we had an ethic of "if you don't like the post, just scroll on by." Did we not also have a rule "trash the post, but not the poster" or some such?
I guess I count myself lucky that basically I'm here for info and for laughs, and that I don't live and die by Cleveland Sports. I'd like to think that we could all grow thick hides and chill a bit.
Or as one of my faves (Baron VG) once said, "Can't we all just hit a bong?"
Hope this isn't too big of a downer.
Re: General Discussion
3347No downer from this corner. Never did a bong. I don't need one. I'm high on life

3348Conjuring "1776", some people are obnoxious and disliked, and that can not be denied.VT'er wrote:Back when this group showed more sense--not coincidentally, back when we had regular contribution from females--we had an ethic of "if you don't like the post, just scroll on by." I still think that some here (Rusty) subscribe to the theory that fan discussions and sports competition do best with an identity portrayed as a villain.

3349TFISC, seems like you can not stop talking about me. I must admit I laughed out loud when you mentioned banishment.
Sorry, that you do not like me calling you out when you spew your drunken posts.
Believe me when I say that you have run as many posters out of here as I have. You are not the only one that gets e-mails.
By the way I was able to post without mentioning Shapiro or my wife. You should try the same.

3350Right-hander Joe Martinez started the game for Columbus (Thursday night), filling in for Trevor Bauer who was called-up to replace the injured Scott Kazmir in Cleveland’s rotation.

3351I think Cody Allen needs to go down and Hagadone needs to come up. Cody was not pitching that well towards the end of Spring Training as well as now and Hagadone is doing well.

Terry Francona on Jason Giambi.
Francona said this to Michael Kay from the YES network before the game.

Re: General Discussion
3353Carlos Santana had to leave Monday's home opener against the Yankees with a thumb injury in the ninth inning. Santana appeared to be crossed up on a pitch by Chris Perez, as he lowered his glove as if expecting a breaking ball. Instead, Perez's fastball caught Santana squarely on his left thumb/wrist area.
The Indians announced that Santana suffered a left thumb contusion but that he's also heading in for X-rays. So the news could get worse.
In an unfortunate twist of fate, Monday happened to be Santana's 27th birthday.
Santana is hitting .500/.567/.885 with two homers, four doubles and five RBI so far on the season. Needless to say, losing Santana's hot bat for any amount of time would greatly hurt the Indians.

3355Indians promote catchers Yan Gomes and Omir Santos from AAA and put Marson on the DL.

Re: General Discussion
3360Good news is that after a week or so of the regular season we are 4th place in our division.
Bad news is that means we are last. Worse news is that we have few players challenging .250 at the plate with consistency, and equally worse news is that we have a starting staff that is the equivalent of Swiss string cheese.....IF the Swiss made string cheese.
Worst news is that Mark Shapiro is STILL on the Dolan payroll.
