Great News! Except he's going to take ABs from someone at Columbus who can actually hit.
Is there really someone that can actually hit down there? Clearly not elsewise they should have been brought up already.

All that we know are that are a bunch of guys are hitting down there. Who knows if they would hit up here? It's hard to say what they would they do in the majors but also hard to see what they shouldn't be given the chance since the current alternatives have proven they don't belong in the majors.

Indians may deal Masterson; Rangers, Red Sox went to see him

The fading Indians have told teams that they may trade opening day starter Justin Masterson, sources say.

Both the Red Sox and Rangers sent scouts to watch Masterson Saturday night in Minnesota, but he did not pitch well. After shutting out the Twins for the first three innings, Masterson allowed 10 runs (eight earned) over the next 2 2/3, to raise his ERA to 4.47.

The Indians have also fielded calls about right fielder Shin-Soo Choo (the Pirates have shown interest) and closer Chris Perez, but it appears doubtful that Perez will be moved.

The Indians were swept by the Twins over the weekend, falling to two games under .500 and six games behind the first-place White Sox in the American League Central.

The Indians want "a major leaguer - a good one - with less than three years service time" for Shin-Soo Choo, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Choo is generating plenty of interest right now and Cleveland is answering the phone. Choo is arbitration-eligible for a final time this winter, so the Indians don't feel as though they necessarily have to ship him out of town.

Wonder why the Indians are feeding the media rumors two days before the deadline? Nothing leaks out unless they want it to.

Got to believe Choo is worth more than a suspect/prospect OF named Marte.

As far as Masterson goes, can't believe they will dump their #1 pitcher now. Maybe the grass is greener.

I've tried to hang on to some shred of optimism, to go as far as foolhardy hopefulness, but I'm close to throwing in the towel.

Two weeks ago I was hoping that we would be able to pick up something to help us...and what happens, we get a stiff who isn't even hitting his own weight. A week ago we beat Verlander...I'm thinking that maybe just maybe we will do something to shore up the offence and maybe get some pitching help...starter/releiver whatever.

It's pretty clear now that will never happen. Seriously not just getting swept by the twinkies but outright embarrassed each day...and two of those were our supposed best pitchers. 28-6...28 to frickin 6.

Granted there isn't much we have to work with, and frankly when this FO does do something it usually ends up sucking balls.

Even if we do trade Choo and/or Perez, you know damn well we ain't gonna get shit in return, we traded two CY Young winners, back to back, and have barely better than shit to show for it, I don't even want to think of the garbage we will get for Choo and arguably the leagues best closer.

I know theres ups and downs, but I'm thinking that the Twinkies broke the camels back, I'm gonna give it another week before I cancel my MLB.com give them another week, but I'm pretty sure they are looking at 4th place by the time it's all said and done.

May as well trade Masterson, Choo, Perez, Pestano, and everyone else for that matter. There are supposed guys that can hit in the Minors....may as well bring them up and see how they do so we can trade them later on too. When Hernandez gets up we can trade him too....

Jesus I'm pissed. I need a drink.

We had our opportunities to improve but a miserly owner combined with a front office and scouting department that has a difficult time judging talent and filling needs has been a major problem since the 90's.

My greatest disappointment this year was not inking Yoenis Cespedes. In my opinion, I thought he had a chance to be franchise player here just as I thought that BP could be. I thought Cespedes would be a player that we could build a team around. Cespedes is an athlete in the purest sense of the term. The nice thing about his athleticism, he has the talent to match it. Dropping out of the bidding and high tailing it when Oakland offered 9 million a year just goes to show what the future has in store.

I've been trying to keep my nose clean since my hiatus, trying to stay positive, but I've been biting my tongue. This stuff is nothing new. I've been stating the obvious for over ten years. Ken has a harsh way with words, but he's been right on for all these years also. Problem is, nothing will change until we get new ownership, and overhaul the front office and scouting department.

Cleveland has got to show baseball that we are committed to winning.

Baron even your minimal optimism: "There are supposed guys that can hit in the Minors is overdone. Not one of those guys who is hitting well in AAA is rated even anywhere on the Tribe's woesome Top 30 prospect list. All that they offer is some possibility of improvement to the offense we now get from 1B, LF and DH

If I was Dolan I would be pissed. I want to get something for the few shekels I put into this damn team. Why am I paying a scouting dept to draft players when idiots on a stupid fan forum could draft just as well as the guys being paid the big bucks? Why are there no prospects? Can't be complaining about the ubaldo's trade when the great prospects we gave up are stiffs
