I overlooked Perez's earlier comments but when he starts on the Lebron subject he draws my ire.
Maybe Perez doesn't know that Lebron showed up at an Indians - Yankees game wearing a yankee hat and publicly embarrassed us by rooting for the away team.
Since Chrissie boy fancies himself quite the expert on how Cleveland sports fans should act maybe he could opine on that.
Maybe he doesn't realize Lebron further embarrassed us by showing up at a Browns game and rooted for the away team while grab assing on the Dallas sideline. I guess the expert on fandom has no issues there.
And maybe Chris Perez would have no problem with his wife going on ESPN and announcing to the world that she is going to dump her husband for a better looking guy living on South Beach. Maybe he wouldn't feel jilted or embarrassed by such a spectacle, but maybe he could cut us some slack and try to understand why we are some scorned peeved off mother hubbards.
And when Lequitter tears off the old scab and opens up some old emotions by winning a title Perez decides that is a perfect time to beat us down some more.
He's as selfish as he is ignorant and should just shut up.
And he can KMA.
Re: Articles
1832I'm split on this one. I like Perez but I agree he should just STFU.
What kills me is the nagging premonition that L.James is going to end up back in Cleveland once the rebuild is almost complete. I really don't know what to think about that, but puking is the initial gut reaction.

Re: Articles
1834Perez is one of few that is getting the job done. Another is Kipnis, and of course, Cabrera. I have no axe to grind regarding Cleveland, so I guess i should just stfu. But I do like the above 3. Santana is not getting the job done, and as I said, I hope that is a sophomore slump.
We need help. Hopefully Sizemore & Hafner will be available soon.

Re: Articles
1835Perez just needs to realize that the fans aren't completely stupid.
Every serious fan of the Indians has known for a long time that we're too heavy with LH batters and we have jack shit for RH hitters. Every serious Tribe fan has know for a long time that we have a gaping hole where the left fielder is supposed to be.
And what exactly has the front office done to fix this? Jack squat. Zero, zip, nada.
How do the fans get excited when they know that, although the team has a lot of nice pieces (and, Perez is one of them), they simply do not have enough pieces to get the job done, to go the distance. The fans expect the team to fade either in the middle of the race or down the stretch. the fans are tired of getting their hopes up for a team that's a bad bet at best.
Somebody needs to explain these things to Perez someday.

Re: Articles
1836Agree completely, Mt.Fan. And on top of that, fans in Cleveland grew accustomed to pouring their hearts & souls into players, only to watch them get traded or walk as soon as their contract was up. That takes a toll. It's hard to continue to invest your emotions, as well as your dollars, in this kind of system. He's completely selfish and self-centered, as alot of pros are, and just not looking at things from the fans perspective at all. Much easier to justignorantly shoot off your mouth than actually take the time to intelligently analyze a situation.
Re: Articles
1837Perez is doing his job way more than well, and is just trying to rally some energy into the fans.
Kudos to him.
I'm pretty darned sure someone has already reminded him that Akron's LeBron James wore the Yankees hat in Cleveland, grabbed ass with Dallas, and realized he surrendered his mother to a former teammate.
I bet Perez didn't need any reminding on the first two, and likely noted that LeBron was widely thought in the national media to have QUIT when the playoffs for The Cavs were on the continuing line.
Perez just is thinking Cleveland Fans should forget about all that when The Cleveland Indians are in or flirting with First Place and the playoffs.
I agree with him, and see no reason not to.

1839Cali:
What I'm trying to say is there are alot of different factors as to why the city isn't supporting the Indians as well as they did 15 years ago. The points Mt.Fan made are valid. The point I made is valid, people like me aren't as interested in getting as emotionally and fiscally invested when I know the good players are just going to be gone soon anyway. And let's also not ignor the fact the economy in northeast Ohio really sucks now. There just isn't as much disposable income.
But, Cali, fact of the matter is Perez can encourage fans to come out and support the team without calling them stupid for supporting the Browns or illogical for rooting against Lebron. They way he made his point was insulting. That's just the way it is. You can choose to ignor that if you want just cause he does his job but just know he wouldn't give you that same benefit of the doubt.
People loved Jose Mesa for a time while he did his job too. Then when he wasn't automatic anymore they weren't so willing to accept a gutless moron.
I have a feeling the same fate awaits Chris Perez. I doubt a guy with that poor an attitude and brain power will have a long great career.

I'm as optimistic as it gets.
But it will take nothing short of a miracle for this team to get to a game 7 as it is currently constructed. That's why the attendance is so low; the fans in Cleveland have already seen this movie.
The front office needs to get some RH bats and a legit left fielder at a minimum for anyone to take the Indians seriously.

1842I think (and I know no one cares) the fans know Dolan will not spend when the time is ripe. He has had a chance or two to do so. What do we get? Washed up retreads.

1843From Matt Underwood:
Interesting note from Elias...Jose Lopez had 5 hits yesterday while Lou Marson and Shin-Soo Choo each had 4. Over the last 60 seasons (1953-2012), there has been only one other nine-inning game in which an Indians player had five hits and two teammates had four (or more) apiece: At Fenway Park on Sept. 5, 1987, Tommy Hinzo had five hits for Cleveland while Joe Carter and Mel Hall each had four.

1845Lopez was a good pickup this winter by the blind squirrel in the FO.
Might be worth someting at the deadline.
