A Tony clone comments on some of yesterday's best pefromers:
Tyler Holt is doing exactly what you should do if you are stuck at a level beneath where you should be because of supposed “depth” and major league relief in Columbus. There’s no whining and complaining. There’s no prima-donna behavior. Instead, Holt is acting like a professional, and absolutely raking this year. It’s hard to describe just how far he’s come in a year, but you know me…I’m surely going to try. Last season, Holt’s knock was his over-aggressive-ness. He struck out too much, and really brought an interesting attitude onto the field that many were questioning. This season, Holt is still the aggressive player, but in a much more “controlled” fashion. He’s not flying off the handle, and he’s much more controlled at the plate. Last season, he struck out 106 times in 115 games, while walking 76 times, and had a respectable .365 OBP. This season, he’s hitting .322, with 22 walks and 22 K’s in 31 games, a vast improvement. He made it on base tonight in all five plate appearances, and has a seven-game hit streak. He’s made it on base in 20 straight games.
Thomas Neal: RF, Akron Aeros: 3-for-3, 2 R, 1 2B, CS (3):
Neal has been about as unassuming a prospect as the Indians have had this season. With the Indians starving for outfield prospects, and in particular, right-handed, power-hitting outfielders, this was Neal’s opportunity to make a push for the big leagues. That didn’t happen, and Neal found himself off the 40-man roster, and sent down to Akron from Triple A. He wasn’t horrible during the first month of the season, but he certainly wasn’t making a case for Columbus. He hit .278, with three doubles and five walks. Things have picked up a bit in May though, as Neal is not only hitting .303, with three doubles already, but he’s also got the OBP up to .410. Now, if he could only find some sort of power, perhaps he could make some noise by the end of the season. Of course, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Neal is still an under-the-radar player as we speak, but his right-handed-ness could make a difference going forward, if he can maintain the numbers, and add some power.
•Trey Haley: RP, Carolina: S (1): 2 1/3 IP, 2 BB, 2 K: I’m starting to get the impression that Haley is finally starting to meet all those expectations that you would have of a kid that can throw close to 100. He’s healthy and finding the strike zone. If he can carry this up to Double A, then he’s going to surely enter that top tier of arms in the system. In 9 1/3 IP, he’s only given up one hit and two unearned runs, while walking three and striking out seven•Felix Sterling: SP, Lake County: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R/ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR: Sterling continues to pitch well for Lake County, and has six outstanding starts, one so-so, and one moderately bad start overall this year. His past three have been on the outstanding side, as he’s gone 16 2/3 innings in the past three games, giving up 13 hits, three earned runs and five walks, while striking out 14. Overall, he’s got a 2.81 ERA.

16393-2 win for Carolina behind Tony Wolters, single and double (tht's a 2b in each of the last 3 games, avg for May is 289, very nice recovery for the teenager playing way above his head). Shawn Armstrong rebounds from his first run allowed to face 7, retire all, 4 on strikes. Juan Flores a shutout inning, ERA 1.08.
Fill in starter Fransico or Fernando Jiminez with another good one: 5 2/3 2 unearned runs on 2 hits, 5 K, BB

1640Carmona Sighting in the Midwest League! Well, its Manny not Fausto, or at least he claims to be Manuel Carmona. 1 2/3 of relief after Elvis Araujo goes 4, walks 4, but only 1 run. Jordan Smith and Bryson Myles 2 hits apiece, Myles with 11th steal. LRod hitless. Lindor still out.

Re: Minor Matters
1641Lindor returns from a few days away and singles, homers and bats in 4. That makes 4 homers for the dazzling fielder and his average is among the Midwest League leaders. We might not have any other serious prospects but he's looking like one of baseball's best.
Luigi Rodriguez, probably the only other position player of any quality, added a couple hits for the Captains last night. He has slumped some but he's at 286 and is young for the league.
Eric Berger is not supposed to a prospect and was put in the Columbus rotation only as a stopgap, I think, but he's had two good starts. 6 innings last night, 2 runs. LaPorta returned to the lineup with his 10th homer.
Soto is only 20 and starting for Akron, although not among the Indians' top 30 prospects, kind of weird, has had good games and bad games. last night one of the latter.
If this topic were renamed The Francisco Lindor Page, I'd be able to limit my posts to the only player of the 150 or so in the Indians' minors who is worth following.

1644From Deep Prospects . Com
Consensus Top 100 Prospects
By kpulekPublished: May 1, 2012
Posted in: Prospects
Since Bradley has been working very hard to start up his law firm, we (a group of twelve different site regulars) decided to fill in for him in submitting the first Top 100 prospect rankings of 2012. These rankings aren’t just a single person’s thoughts or ideas, but rather a consensus of the entire group’s opinion, they took their own top 100 prospect list and submitted it. What came out was the average of the rankings for each player, as decided by the group.
The rankings are completely unedited, and very largely based upon personal opinion, that way we get any range of votes and you see how the opinions vary. For example, Christian Yelich was ranked between 32 and 40 for every single voter, so his ranking is pretty consistent across the board. On the other hand, Billy Hamilton ranged from 33 to 67 on people’s rankings, showing his inconsistencies and relating to his boom-bust type talent.
The rankings are a combination, so no one person can say “this is why this happened” as it is a collective effort. On the other hand though, it’s been really interesting to hear people add tidbits to players and show why they leaned that way.. We think that having all this information will allow you to make more informed decisions, so long as you make sure you do your research and study up on players. The goal of this was to give you as much information as we possibly could, and allow you to pick and choose what you like and didn’t like.
In the post we give you average ranking position (average of the 12 rankings), Best (Highest Ranking), and Worst (Lowest Ranking) to give you the best picture of the range of the player’s talents. This should help people see how the rankings really ranged.
Feel free to express your concerns, likes, dislikes, and any such critiques or applauses about the list that you have. I know myself, Andy, and the majority of the rankers will be available for comment and to talk about the list.
Thank you and enjoy,
The Rankers

Thank you and enjoy,
The Rankers

1648Seagull,
I was searching for something completely different, but, as we all know, surfing can often give one more than they bargained for. In this case, I checked out the webpage and found it quite interesting actually.
The website is http://www.deepleagues.com
I read the "about us" link and this is what they had to say:
Deep Leagues was founded by two attorneys who attended the University of Texas as undergraduates and now live in Houston. We each have been owners in a 23 team keeper league, with farm players, for a combined 20+ seasons. Our own quests for the latest information that may be helpful in developing a fantasy baseball team have led to the creation of Deep Leagues.
The players discussed here will often be completely irrelevant to people who play in 10-12 team leagues. We are concerned about second catchers, filling a fifth outfield spot and coming up with at least six starting pitchers. This site frequently discusses prospects. Most prospect sites rank prospects on their ability to help major league teams. This issue is not important here. For example, Michael Brantley’s 50 steals make him an elite prospect while any defensive issues downgrade him only to the extent it will prevent him from reaching the field to help your team. So while he may creep down Baseball America’s top prospect list he would still be a top prospect in fantasy baseball.

1650Rusty!Stupid article. Leave it to Joe to post anything he assumes is negative.
I didn't know you were a mind reader along with all your other silly traits.
Negativity never entered my mind. It was a post meant for fantasy players.
You really do need to stay on your meds
