Player of game : Once again the production of Yordanis Samon was responsible for giving all the offensive support starter Leandro Martinez required. His 2 homers and 3 RBIs were enough for a victory for Granma equalling the East Series 1-1

After suffering a 20-0 setback on Friday, Granma was reborn from the ashes and defeated Ciego de Avila, 4-2, tying the Eastern Semifinal Series 1 game each, in a brilliant game despite some tactical errors and execution.

From the outset it became clear that the Granma had turned the corner and forgotten the terrible beating of 20-0 they were ambushed with.

Thus, in the first inning with an "infield hit" by leadoff man Ramon Tamayo and after two outs, came a huge homer by cleanup hitter Yordanis Samon, which Granma stated that the second game would be totally different.

Lisandro Martinez again demonstrated why he has been the best left-handed pitcher in the championships, because after a basehit by Rusney Castillo and a walk, Martinez the next 19 batters in a row.

It was not until the bottom of the eighth when Fiss Yoelvis doubled to left, only the second hit by the hosts and at that point. Yoelvis scored after a long sacrifly out by Lisdey Diaz Martinez breaking up the shutout.

Player of the game: The righty Osmar Carrero threw 7 1/3 excellent innings to give Ciego de Avila an important win to open a three game series on the road during the 2012 Eastern Finals

Another victory achieved by a disproportionate marker Sunday 13-2 by the Tigers of Ciego de Avila over the Stallions of Granma.

The game was favorable to Ciego de Avila from the first inning, when they scored two, then repeated the dose in the second, and the young Osmar Carrero Valdes dominated his dangerous rivals for the first six innings of the game, but Luis Alberto Ferrales would homer in the fifth inning.

The Stallions scored one run in the seventh and were threatening, but Rabbi Yadir saved the situation, with the bases loaded when he struck out cleanup hitter Yordanis Samon.

The victory went to Osmar Carrero, who dedicated the game to his mother, and father, the star Omar Moreno Carrero, who on Sunday celebrated his birthday in style.

Granma lacked the powerful offensive which characterizes the Stallions, above all, their leading men, Alfredo Despaine and Yordanis Samon did not contribute to the attack, and the pitchers, opener Ciro Silvino Licea, and four relievers were ineffective.

Ciego de Avila now maintains a 2 game to 1 advantage over Granma in the Eastern Finals.

In the Western Finals Matanzas and the Industriales each have two wins.

Granma trailed Ciego de Avila 3-0 heading into the home half of the 9th inning when Alfredo Despaigne and Urmanes Guerro both hit solo homers but that was too little too late. Avila wins 3-2 and takes a commanding 3 games to 1 lead in the best of 7 series. Granma loses the first 2 of 3 on home turf. Avila either takes the next game at Martires de Barbados field or else the series shifts back to José Ramón Cepero Stadium.

Matanzas and the Industriales warming up and getting ready to do battle later this evening with the series all tied up at 2 games each. It would be nice if Matanzas could steal a game from the Industriales in Latinoamericano Stadium before the series shifts back to Victoria de Girón stadium home of the Matanzas.

Granma is on the verge of the End

Eastern Final: Game 4- Cav 3, Grm 2

Player of the game : The righty Vladimir Garcia shone again with a complete game against Granma with 8 strikeouts to get his 18th win of the season and put Granma at the gate of the Eastern Finals of Cuba.

And it is that Granma, a purely offensive team all year, again could not decipher the pitches of righty Avilanian Vladimir Garcia, who in a very different season of 2011, was walking his fastball up to 97 miles per hour with his effective "slider" and is approaching the mark of 20 wins this year.

Vladimir's speed had diminished somewhat and surrendered two home runs in the ninth inning.

The first by Alfredo Despaigne - a historic number 40 this season - and Urmaris Guerra.

Vladimir faced a minimum of three men in 5 of the 9 innings of work. He struck out 7 men in the first 8 innings and finished the game with his 8th strikeout.

Rusney Castillo had two of the three runs batted in for Ciego de Avila in Game 4 of the Eastern Finals 2012.
