Stevens exits Robinson Tejada toes the rubber. Joaquin Arias sac fly and the Aguilas regain the lead at 4-3. Herrera steals second. Heads up play as Elian Herrera scores. 5-3. Hector Luna singled. Another pitching change. Antonio Cruz on in relief, gets out of the inning by fanning Brandon Moss. End of 4. Aguilas 5 Licey 3. The house is going nuts.

Aguilas "ace" Lorenzo Barcelo only went 3.0 innings. Manauris Baez pitched an inning. Felix Fermin adds his third pitcher to the mix as Raul Valdez enters the game to start the fifth. Valdez retired the side in order. Middle of 5. Aguilas 5 Licey 3.

Another pitcher for the Tigers. Oneli Perez now on the mound. Miguel Tejada tries to surprise by laying one down the thirdbase line but gets tossed at first. Cespedes lines one up the gap in left center but gets tossed at second trying to stretch the basehit into a double. Cespedes is starting to come strong has been hitting the ball well the past three games. Pressure packed situation for Cespedes is handling it well. Ground out third to first ends the inning. 5-3 Aguilas on top of the Tigers end of 5.

The lefty Raul Valdez back on for his second inning of work. Erick Aybar. Comebacker. Pitcher to first. One out as the fans all rise in unison. They're standing on all occasions. Ronnie Paulino bounces one off the top of the left centerfield wall. Leaping attempt. Ball back in the field of play retrieved by the centerfielder. Paulino slowed down at second and picks up steam headed to third. The relay is in time. Paulino injured on the awkward slide into third. Hit ruled a homer. That's Paulino's second homer of the game. Paulino has to leave the game. Yamaico Navarro strikesout swinging. Robinson Cancel with a basehit. Luis Matos flies out to end the inning. These fans are amazing. They are literally drowning out the commentators for this game. Well! One more run in for the Tigers as they bite into the lead and now trail 5-4 middle of the 6th.

Carlos Gomez leads off the Aguilas home half of the sixth by flying out to the wall in straightaway center. Everyone back on their feet for that drive. Top of the order with Elian Herrera batting. Herrera goes down on strikes. Joaquin Arias drives one to the wall in left. Fans up once again but the ball is caught. Nice running grab. Ronnie Paulino fortunately is the DH tonight for Licey and the trainers are working on his leg in the dugout. Paulino is 3-3 with 2 homers so far this evening. Aguilas fail to score in the sixth. After 6. 5-4 Eagles still in the lead.

Got a good one going tonight. Hector Luna leads off the Aguilas seventh. Juan Padilla on in relief. Luna strikes out. Carlos Perez is the new pitcher. Perez is the eighth pitcher used by the Tigers tonight. Lefty against lefty as Brandon Moss steps up. Moss draws the walk and Perez is one very unhappy camper. He didn't like that call one bit. And another pitching change. That's number nine for the Tigers. Victor Marte in to face Miguel Tejada. OHHHHH! Tejada just drilled one to right but a nice over the shoulder catch makes it out number two in the inning. That ball was scalded. Cespedes strikes out on a ball in the dirt to end the inning. After 7 complete. The score still stands at 5-4 in favor of the home team.

Just caught the last out of the game. A strikeout! The stadium is going absolutely bananas. Players and fans alike. The Aguilas defeat their enemies the Licey Tigers 5-4. What a ballgame! Highlight of this inning was the Aguilas mascot, an Eagle dressing Grim Reaper-like dragging a Tiger around the neck with a noose. More details to come. Got more chores to finish. Wish I was there. Bite bats too much for Bandits

Back-to-back second inning home runs doom Brisbane starter Baker

After a huge second inning that saw back-to-back homeruns, the Adelaide Bite (19-22) held off the Brisbane Bandits (17-24) by a score of 5 to 3 in the first of a 5-game Round 11 Australian Baseball League series Thursday night at Coopers Stadium in Adelaide.

Despite the loss, the Bandits are still mired in a heated playoff race and sit within 2 games of second place in the ABL.

Josh Roberts got the scoring started for Brisbane and continued his torrid hitting in the first inning, smacking a solo homerun off Bite starter Dushan Ruzic to give the Bandits an early 1-0 lead. The homerun was Roberts third in his last two games and seventh on the season.

After Brisbane scratched together a run on a Steven Greer sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning, the Bite bats exploded for five runs in the bottom of the frame off Brisbane reliever-turned-starter Trent Baker. The scoring was highlighted by back-to-back homeruns by right fielder Ben Wigmore (a three-run blast) and catcher Carlton Tanabe (a solo shot).

The score sat at 5-2 into the fourth inning when Bandits DH Rory Rhodes hit a towering solo homerun (his 4th) to cut the Bite lead to 2 runs.

After his rocky second inning, Trent Baker held the Bite bats in check over the next three frames, finishing his night with 5 innings pitched, 3 hits, 5 earned runs and 6 strike outs.

Bite reliever Jason Daniels took over for Ruzic (6.2 innings, 6 hits, 3 earned runs on the night) and pitched a flawless 2 and a third scoreless innings to preserve the all-important opening game victory, 5-3 in favor of Adelaide.

Eagles fly into finals

The 20-time national champion Cibao Eagles completed yesterday the most spectacular game in history of over 25 years of of round robin play, defeating the Tigers of Licey 5 to 4 in a sudden death game, held before a packed house at the Cibao stadium, the game dedicated to Pappy-Bison.

The Eagles 10 to 9, numbers with which they won the right to face the Leones Escogido (11-7) in the final championship series of 2011-2012, arrived here weaving a string of 6 straight wins, after having a negative mark of 4 to 9.

Never before in the history of Dominican baseball has there been a "come back" like this, allowing the Eagles Cibaenas to advance to their 36th league championship series. The Cuban Raul Valdes, 1-2, with only three days off, went to the mound in relief to get the win.

Miguel Batista, relieved in the ninth and struckout the final two batters of the game to secure his fifth save of the series. The defeated one was Freddy Dolsi (1 - 2), one of the nine pitchers used by Licey giving up a walk to Elian Herrera, and allowing a run in just two thirds of an inning.

The Eagles led early in the game, getting to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly by Hector Luna, Elian Herrera scoring on the first of three runs in the game.

In the third increased the lead to 3 - 0 with two more: Elian Herrera singled and scored when Yamaico Navarro committed a throwing error on Miguel Tejada's grounder. Tejada scored on a double by the Cuban Yoenis Céspedes.

The Tigers evened the game in the fourth, 3 to 3, when Anderson Hernandez opened with a double, Erick Aybar followed with a triple and Ronny Paulino hit the first of his two homers in the game.

The Eagles responded with two more in the bottom half of the inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by Joaquin Arias allowing Francisco Pena to score and Elian Herrera scored his third run of the game on an error by center fielder Alejandro De Aza.

Ronnie Paulino hit his second homer of the game in the sixth inning to cut the Eagles lead to 5-4, but from then on they were silenced by the Eagles bullpen pitchers.

In the game on offense shined the Eagles Yoenis Céspedes with a pasting of 2-4, with a double and an RBI, Elian Herrera was 2-3, with three runs scored and Hector Luna hit 2-3, with a run scored.

For Licey, Ronnie Paulino homered twice and finished 3-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, and Erick Aybar went 2-4 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI.

Editorial, It's a shame for Fausto Carmona

The greatest problem facing the pitcher, Fausto Carmona, is the embarrassment he may have caused the family of baseball.
